chat abuse from goldeyes [settled]

Postby JubjubS22 on Wed Dec 31, 2008 3:07 pm

Accused:

goldeyes

The accused is suspected of:

chat abuse

Game number(s):

Game 3923048

Comments:
I am overreacting or is this player a real jerk? I am new to the site, so I don't carry any of the baggage that seems to be spoiling the attitude of some players. I am cool with competitive banter during a game, but is this the type of attitude and comments I need to get used to if I want to play at this site?

I'll put him on my foe list, but that doesn't really address the issue, it is more like a band-aid.

You don't run into that kind of person very much on CC. Very few people are like that. Most people are really nice.

He does seem pretty obnoxious, but I don't think he did anything that the mods would consider "abuse". The best you'll hear is probably the generic "just add him to your foe list and leave whatever rating you feel appropriate". I don't think they'll ban him for that.

He does seem pretty annoying, though. I added him to my foe list.

Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the players that posted chat in the game as well. I am not looking to have him banned, I just wanted to know if I was overreacting or if he was a little abusive. I do understand the frustration of playing against multis. While I am new here, I have played at other sites and ran into the same stuff of cheaters, deadbeats, bullies and the like. That is just human nature, kinda like being on the playground when we were kids.

I just ignore his behavior, put him on my foe list and move on.

Again, thanks for the advice, and Happy New Year!

I'd say the odds are pretty good. There were only about 20 games waiting for people to join. Non premium members can join up to 4 games. With new players joining around the same time, they are selecting from the same small list of available games. I'd say the odds are in favor of having multiple new accounts join the same game under those circumstances. Personally I didn't bother to check what time the other player joined the site, or even if they were new or not, I just looked for games that were about to start and joined them.

You have to put your self in the seat of a brand new player to the site. They are not gonna look for specific situations like players they like to play with or maps or anything else. They just want to see what the site is all about.

On the other hand, I can see where a player may have had some bad experiences with people that were actually cheating and are now overly suspicious. But you can't just assume someone is cheating because they joined the site and your game around the same time. That is a little paranoid. I guess I just don't like to be called a cheater. You can call me just about anything else you want, but it really burns me when a paranoid player automatically tries to discredit and tarnish a player for no reason. And I am guessing he will leave bad rating for me because he is such a poor sport.

There has been A LOT of multis also caught, by being a new recruit, posting in forums right away, knowing how to fill out a cheating form(people have been here for a year and still can't do it properly), knowing all the terms already, and playing maps for the first time and do very good at them......So it isn't just joining at the same time but, Good Luck at this great site, and Happy Killing

Yet despite the settings being different from the board game you appear to have picked up the required strategy immediately, also you seem to have picked up the methodology and terminology of CC with extraordinary speed........it is far from usual

LOL, well, you all may want to take my "Man Card" away from me but.... I took the time to read the "Community Guidelines". I know, it was not the cool thing to do, stopping and reading directions. But I wanted to be a part of the community and not look like a loser that does not know what he is doing.

As for the strategy, I have been playing at another site for over a year, usually carrying 10 - 20 games at a time, both solo and team games, so this is not my first picnic. I found this site by accident. Two player were chatting about it, saying that they liked the over 1600 crowd here, better than the one at the other site, so I figured I should check the site out.

I can certainly see where it could appear suspicious for a new player to be posting in the forums, using the appropriate posting guidelines, and dropping in some site specific language, but I assure you I am a new fish. I might already know how to swim, but I am sure I will still get gobbled up by the sharks. That is until I get used to their tactics. :)

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of you on the battlefields rather than just in the forums.

Also, Happy New Year!

Sorry for the late response (was on a holiday). Anyway, judging from the sound responses given here, they manage to settle this report already.

For added reference, feel free to check our Community Guidelines which also covers Game Chat interactions.
