Unannounced alliance: Ilidio Almeida and Woodruff [cleared]

Accused: Ilidio Almeida and Woodruff

Ilidio Almeida
Woodruff

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Forming an alliance and working together without explicitly stating that was the case.

Game number(s):

Game 3300235

Comments:

Ilidio Almeida started the game by trying to manipulate and dictate other people's moves. Woodruff decided he would work with lIidio Almeida without announcing they were going to be working together. Admission of working together is in chat logs.

"2008-11-13 02:00:46 - Woodruff: And if you're speaking of teal and I, then you need to read the chat log better, because we HAVE been cooperating for a great deal of this game, as evidenced by the chat log.:"

Neither one of the players announced they were working together before this started happening and both have been quite bitter about my accusation and threatened me to go ahead and post my issue with them. This is also while Ilidio Almeida was already leading the game, which was completely unnecessary in the first place. This is a clear violation of the rules. All coordinated efforts should be announced and then discussed in public, instead of attempting to try to coordinate with everyone on the map and allying with anyone that decides to listen to you. All this can be found in the chat logs. They disagree.

I didn't want to write this report, but I was asked to. I was even ridiculed for not writing them up, but after constant berating for asking why they must coordinate efforts, I decided to go ahead and write them up. Any other information or clarification you need is available if necessary.

No, they did not specifically say "We are forming an alliance" but they were coordinating their moves in the chat. That should make it clear that they have an alliance.

This may be, but it's unfair for players to act in an alliance without announcing it prior to allow other players to change strategy to handle the change. This is the purpose of announcing an alliance before coordinated actions are taken. This is especially the case when it turns from a mutual agreement not to attack each other, then moving to coordinated attacks. These are 2 different arrangements in the game that were not made clear by either party.

Considering one party was initiating coordinated defense as well as offense with almost every other player, it's difficult to assume who is cooperating together and who isn't.

Sqyoh is one of the greatest idiot I had the displeasure to play with.
First let´s say about the main acusation secret diplomacy
I´m taking this from the Game Chat accessible to anyone even to Sqyoh if He can read

008-10-16 15:14:55 - Ilidio Almeida: Woodruff if you reduce the number of armies in Samar I´ll do the same in Albay
2008-10-17 03:53:10 - Woodruff: Illidio, please be assured that I have ZERO interest in attacking you. I am busily fighting off the Grand Red Horde, and am ONLY placing my armies in Samar as that is the furthest location from him without completely ceding the bonus armies to him.
Woodruff: You CAN trust me on this case, because it would be foolish of me to attack you when he is my obvious enemy (especially since this is a no-card game...I'd have absolutely nothing to gain from doing so).
2008-10-17 03:54:25 - Woodruff: So feel free to move those armies if you need to. I will NOT be attacking you, and you have my word that IF I should manage to fight off the Red Commie Menace (no offense, Hap), I will give you fair warning before even considering a move in your directio
2008-10-17 05:55:12 - Ilidio Almeida: Thanks Woodruff , I´ll start reucing the size of the army
2008-10-17 05:55:36 - Ilidio Almeida: reducing the size of the army

How can someone call this secret diplomacy ????????

The logical reply from that genius

2008-11-12 00:44:36 - sqy0h: why are you two working together without annoucing an alliance?
2008-11-12 00:45:08 - sqy0h: maybe red and I should do the same thing

I´m not saying they did or they did not , but Hapsmo attacked me next for no logical reason.

About the side issue of manipulating others , I tried to build an alliance to take down Old Lobo and succed , unfortunately , for me , it backfired and Old Lobo by revenge or maybe some empathy with Sqyoh suicide on me
I should add that he even failed to have the guts to use the autoassault button and stop 3 armies from total massacre maybe to look it less ugly.
I´m assuming I´m playing with adults who play strategy games and can diferentiate a mutual interest proposal from manipulation ( I´m not so sure in Sqyoh´s case )

I sincerly hope Sqyoh is less than 10 years old because it all started when he acused me of suicide and secret diplomacy when there absolutely anything I or the other 2 players could do anything to stop him from winning thanks to old lobo´s generosity

I would like to apologize to Hapsmo if the acusations I imply are false but in a game like this one everydody starts to distrust everybody.

In HapSmo's defense, he seemed like a very reasonable individual and I don't believe he was involved in any secret diplomacy. In fact, he eventually accepted Squ0h's offer of alliance only to get stabbed by him shortly thereafter.

Funny... I never actually asked him if he wanted one. I was simply saying that if you were going to start working together, maybe we should too.

2008-11-12 00:44:36 - sqy0h: why are you two working together without annoucing an alliance?
2008-11-12 00:45:08 - sqy0h: maybe red and I should do the same thing

How is that forming an alliance with him? Like I said in chat it really didn't matter anymore since Ilidio Almeida suicided all his armies at me.

Well sqy0h, if that is the case, then I would suggest that the actions of yourself and him are far more relevant to "secret diplomacy" than those of Ilidio and myself...given the lack of chatting and good activity between the two of you. Perhaps this claim of yours was just a smokescreen to try to hide your own complicity?

as blakebowling said, they dont need to say "we're forming alliance, beware."

they openly ask each other something, like illidio asking woodruff to cut down his armies so that both can focus on others. if you dont like it, just ask others to form an alliance. no need to report em.

I can understand that you were looking for a 'formality' of truce or alliance between players should they have any form of agreement in a game. In this case, Ilidio Almeida and Woodruff both agreed on what they would do according to their first statements in the game chat. Through this agreement, they made their turns based on that. So, there was no secret about what they were doing.
