If by multi you mean having an account that has been expired for a year and doesn't even exist on the scoreboard, then sure I am. I quit CC over a year ago because it was fucking up my schoolwork. I decided to get back on and when i typed in my name and guessed about 5 diff. passwords it wouldn't let me back on. I had to pay 25 bucks anyway.

Dude you were a cook on your first account, you do not get to start fresh THAT IS CHEATING! If cc allows every asshole to start over, then there is no fucking point to this site!!

Demonfork, could you please leave all the obscenities for the dinner table? You seem to be unable to refrain yourself from spraying stupidity everywhere.

Obscene according to whom?

Keep your off-topic Judeo-Christian comments to yourself! The retarded nonsense that spews from your mouth has nothing to do with John S. McCain being a cheater!!

I think this is a fairly clear case of a user making an honest error over the correct procedure to follow after forgetting a password. Seriously, is there really any harm in what Mr McCain has done here? So long as he lets the mods know what's going on, and has his old account deleted etc, then what's the problem? I mean, if we're all going to be really pedantic here, then I'm sure the guy wouldn't mind have a couple of points stripped from his new account to prevent accusations of score-manipulation shennanigans.

Should the originator of this thread require further thoughts on this matter then I recommend he reads VtMarik's timeless classic "A couple of points Vs The end of the world : A study of perspective". It sounds like just the sort of thing he needs.

yeah, what he said!

hes not doing any harm

but i dont see any reason to take points off the guy

if he continues to play games then the points he gained (by starting at 1000 again) will be recycled back because he loses more points and gains less every game

The rules are quite clear on this.

The I forgot my password excuse won't stick, because just below the password box is a little clicky that says "I forgot my username or password".

If we are all allowed to bend or break rules when we come accross something difficult in life then we would live in anarchy.

In this case I think a fair solution would be to transfer the premium to the 2nd account as it is the lowest rank and inform the user of the password.

The simple fact that the old user account does still exist, and he didn't simply use the "forgot my password" button before making a new account makes him in violation of the biggest rule of this site.

It doesn't matter how many times you flame the thread post creator; he was being intelligent by posting this thread, and the fact that you're all flaming him using the excuse "if the mods know and his account doesn't exist anymore" actually makes you look stupid, especially since you can simply click the names that demonfork posted to see that both accounts still exist, making him a multi.

edit:
2008-10-13 09:30:23 - John S. McCain: i'm not a multi.... i have played before though.......i was bbentley...i quit for like a year bc it was messing up my school work

A number of Obscenities later...

2008-10-13 09:30:52 - John S. McCain: my account expired like a year ago
2008-10-13 09:31:03 - John S. McCain: i can't even play on it if i wanted too

Sorry to point this out mate, but...

He's not being intelligent. He's being a dick. Point out the rule violation and leave it at that. Leave the "...every asshole..." comments in Flame Wars.

The "every asshole" was reffering to people who use multiple accounts, which while immature and didn't require the obscenity, was egged on by the suspected multiple account owner.

And besides, his flames do not justify yours.

Anyways, we should let the topic be, unless we all want a warning. You're welcome to start something in flame wars//the other spam forum, if you'd like.

Yeah, not so expired.

Sorry to point this out, but even though it still exists it hasn't been used in quite a while. The last game was played nearly 1 1/2 years ago.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot the rule was "You're not allowed to open up accounts, unless you haven't used the other one in awhile". You're definitely right. And the fact that it still exists, yet he "tried 5 different passwords" on it, means he should have used "forgot my password" before he made a new one.

Also, to quote his own post in this thread...

If by multi you mean having an account that has been expired for a year and doesn't even exist on the scoreboard, then sure I am.

1) It didn't expire.
2) It does still exist on the scoreboard.

Means he didn't look too hard for his old account, which just so happens to be a cook of lower s score then the starting value of a brand new account.

it all looks like an honest mistake to me... i cant count the number of times in the past (not this site) that ive chosen to create a new account rather then use the "forgot my password" crap, because sometimes i forget what security questions, and if they require caps in it, and if i used an old e-mail which may have been deleted by now...

I think all that needs to be done is a warning, and keep a watchfull eye out for any abuse

I think this is yet another situation where someone (demonfork) happens to be correct, but is acts in a way that makes it very very difficult to agree with him.

Perhaps, if he wants the problems he finds to be fixed much more quickly and smoothly in the future, he should try simply pointing out the situation clearly, simply, and maturely. Then, he won't draw a crowd that feels they should defend people, any people, from assholes, in any situation.

I don't agree or disagree with him, mostly because he's on my foe list so I don't have to read his posts any more. I can't even remember why I put him on, all the note says is "F*cktard".

But judging by the responses in this thread, there's hard-liners, and people with sense. I'm ordinarily a complete opponent of multis, but this just looks like an honest mistake. I can't see any activity on the old account for over a year, he's hardly creating a new account to exploit the system. It's like the difference between stealing a loaf of bread to feed your family, and bailing out the banking system.

Kotaro wrote:1) It didn't expire.

It never 'expires' - after 30 days of inactivity you're removed from the scoreboard (but of course retain your score) and it seems like you can't post any wall comments either. You won't find 'bbentley' on the scoreboard when you look for him.

However I tried entering 'bbentley' in the scoreboard filter to prove my point and suddenly bbentley81 appeared. I was just about to agree with e_i_pi (as I gave him the benefit of the doubt earlier on as well), but it appears Mr. McCain hasn't been entirely truthful.

I love irony.
