Accused:

gpellamjr
nmhunate

The accused are suspected of:
Conducting Secret Diplomacy

Game number(s):

Game 3224514
Game 3224516

Comments:
Given what I have read about these players it seems that CC don't really care anyways ... but what the hell i might as well mention that there was too many obvious moves that suggested they are "together". 399 games together is just a couple too many to suggest mere coincidence.

Interesting that other complaints are made and subsequently ignored by CC (I guess because they are paying members) ... would suggest that 1 or 2 complaints is just unfortunate but multiple complaints is far more sinister

Anyways - Good Luck Cheats ... I'm glad that you weren't quick enough to stop the low rank from getting stronger in one of the games.

wouldn't be a problem if was doubles games ... but they also play standards the same which is therefore "secret diplomacy" and is cheating ... they "hide" it by the very occassional hit on each other when it makes no difference to the actual gameplay and then only hit hard when it is only the two of them remaining

I guess the first game will come down to the next turn and the second they both will lose.

yes the second they both will lose because i took out one of them and the other retaliated by taking me out which left the game for the remaining player

The first game looks suspicious, and their game chat, whether it was a joke or not, didn't help them either. Their other standard games are also in doubt.

nmhunate and gpellamjr are blocked from playing together.

I don't think they should be blocked have played a few games against them, check my history. I have found no evidence of collusion or cheating on either of their parts. It is natural for people to play games with and against their friends and I think we are all adult enough to know the difference between doubles and singles. I play a lot of games with Chasex, have had paranoid gits accuse us of been cheats or multis. Get over the name calling, just play the game enjoy the game, and if someone is cheating, let karma get them.

Seems a shame to break up a doubles team that has been together for nearly 2 years. y don't you make them promise not to play singles together?

Hello friends!

What follows is the defense of nmhunate and me that I gave to the "hunters" in a ticket. I think it is worth posting here since we were denied the opportunity to defend ourselves, since I have been away from my internet access due to hurricane Ike:

"Hello,

I was just informed by nmhunate that he and I have been blocked. I assume that this means permanently. I have read through the thread that accuses us of cheating and have found no evidence that even suggests that we have cheated.

Indeed, Nate and I play doubles regularly (that is the primary reason that each of us has donated twenty-five of our hard-earned dollars each of the last two years to play here). We are good friends. But we are also very competitive. When we play standard games, we play to win-- and I often accuse Nate of attacking me maliciously, even though when the heat of the moment has passed, I realize that he is a better player than I am and is just doing what is in his best interests.

We have played many games together; mostly doubles, many standard. We are both serious players, both of respectable rank. What good would it do me to give Nate games? What good would it do him to give me games?

I am an honest person. I am very competitive and love to win, and would take no pleasure from winning contrary to the rules. King Achilles is the "hunter" who has banned us. If I understand the rules correctly, I have a right to have this ban re-evaluated by another. So I am invoking that right.

If you need further evidence, let me show you that I have no reason to cheat. Observe a recent string of many 4-player/standard/seq/flat/unlimited games that I have played. If I count correctly, my success rate has been over 40% and I have gained points in the process. And only two of those games have been played with Nate. This is no great feat, but worthy of recognition, at least. I don't need him to help me win-- and I imagine his record of success will show the same for him.

Please don't deny two old friends an excellent forum for competition without some damning evidence-- which cannot possibly exist.

Greg"

I will say I'm really surprised that these two players were blocked. They are a respectable doubles team who I have seen frequently in tournaments, and I wouldn't want to lose that.

I am here writing in my defense. As Cash_Box as pointed out me and Greg have played in 399 games together, yet in our two years here at the site we have not fielded any serious accusations of collusion or secret alliance. Our first accusation came from a private in a doubles game thinking that we were the same person on a multi-account... He was just sore that we were a well oiled team. The second one came from a game that I wasn't even participating in. On both account we were exonerated beyond a shadow of a doubt.

We play many Doubles games together and many singles games too. Me and Greg have been playing Risk for well over 12 years together. And now over the internet on CC for two. I know Greg's style of play so well that I can close my eyes and play him in my sleep. (FYI Guys, gpellamjr will, 95% of the time make a move for Australia, no matter how silly it will be for him.) If you will notice in the chat log of the game that Cash_box uses as evidence, I tell him that me and Greg play singles games not to the death, but to the pain (from The Princess Bride, of course) every single game I play with him I do so in a cutthroat manner. I yield no quarter at all to him. For us the single games that we play is a manner of honour and pride. I still rub in his face games I have won in the past to him.

The evidence of no secret alliance is in the 399 games that we have played together. Look, at our history in all the games that we have played, starting at game number 233602 to the current one. In all these games you will find not one shred of evidence of any collusion or secret alliance. Also, talk to the people that we have played in singles games... none of them will have any unkind words to say about us; only those that are bitter of mine or Greg's crushing victory will even whisper of any resentment.
