Two Players - One Household

Postby Jolly Roger on Tue Aug 08, 2006 4:58 pm

My wife has just joined CC and I wondered if, by playing using the same internet connection, we run the risk of being identified as multis and tossed from the site. I remember seeing this topic in the forums somewhere before but could not find it. Are we alright so long as we don't play in the same game?

Me and my brother shared the same account because we thought we couldn't open 2 accounts from the same IP. But then I read this thread. I then opened my own account and used it, while my brother used the other account. He doesn't play that often, but we never played in the same game. The other account is Shakebot.

JR...first off I dont think this belongs in this topic!!

I know you to be an honorable and fun player..I for one would have no problem playing the two of you, and in fact, think it would be fun! I am sure the circle of folks I tend to play with would feel the same way - there are at least 2 couples I play in that manner already....

As to in general...there are no rules specifically prohibiting it (assuming you do not strategize together (between the sheets!) outside of the chat in singles games), but you may get some accusations based on the timing of turns, etc....who knows?

If you wish to play together (between the sheets!) in singles games, play with folks you know, like me. Hope that helped......

Hey Jolly

My wife and I both have accounts. We only play singles games together with people we know, and in the double games that we are partners we state that fact in chat before we even start.

I was so raw back then. Also my brother died of buttsars, so that's how that story ended.

I think two people who share the same IP address, should only play in a double or triples game if they play in the same game. . Kayla and I share the same IP, and we don't play in standard games together to prevent accusations of multiple accounts. We still get them, because we make no seceret that we are married and live together. But we only play Doubles or Triples, usually as P's, and so no advantage is gained, and because we are both high ranked, no one can accuse us of sabatage if we go against eachother in a doubles game, because neither one of us is going to give up points to the other on purpose.
Highest score to date: 2704 (June 25, 2008)
Highest on Scoreboard: 86 (June 25, 2008)
Highest Rank : Colonel (May 27, 2008)
Lowest Score to date : 776 (Nov 20, 2012)
Lowest Rank to date: Cook (Nov 20, 2012)
Shortest game won: 15 seconds - Game 12127866

I had emailed support and they kind of gave me a confusing reply? Like alot of others my wife is very pissed at me playing this damn game several hours a day....so she figured that since she cant beat she could at least join me....we only play in multis together thus far....although after some silly moves on her part I dont think that is going to happen....nobody has said anything to me yet but I would hate to lose all the hard work I have put into the game for it to be taken away!!!

The suggestion that we state when the game starts is a good one however the opponents dont really have a choice to refuse after the game has been initiated.

there are many, many couples on here, the doubles games with them are a blast...ive posted this 20 times as has sempy.....as long as the two people make the turns i dont think anyone cares...cd is kind of sick of the game right now, but we had some fun....

and subjekt, i had no idea you had a wife with an account...i demand 3 games against you and yours....

actually i am amazed at the number of couples in here...at some point I think it would be cool to set up a user group to make it easier to set up couples team games...but right now they dont have time or space for it..but when lack gets to sit home in is robe programming every day, perhaps it will be possible then...

Not about to go through all the cheating/abuse reports, but I don't think we've ever been accused, not formally at least.

Jamie and Kayla each had multi accounts before, but were never busted together. And Jamie, just for reference you could play in standard games with kayla and have no problems because I can easily tell that you are two seperate people and I could clear you if any accusations popped up. Plus, since you are both premium we have distinct billing information for each one of you, which helps the case.

The moral of the story is, 2 seperate people in one household will sometimes appear to be multis, and sometimes they are wrongly busted. But I think most of the time if you are actually two seperate people we are able to sort it out, or if an incorrect bust was made we are able to clear you later. But as Jamie said, you will always be safer by not playing standard games together.

Banned from playing together

Postby djerkoff on Mon Feb 19, 2007 10:43 am

Hi all

I had signed up to this fun game website after being pestered by my friends and fellow colleagues..

But it seems that i'm unable to play with them.

I had emailed to the admins but unfortunately i have not gotten any replies from them..

i honestly will appreciate if someone was to explain to me..

wat i think the possible problem could be

reading thru, i noticed that having a number of people playing in the same game, with the same IP will get banned.. noticingly, people might accuse of playing at the same time (Freestyle, doubles), playing in an increasing number of games with the same person, and end up playing with him and another unknown player (3 person : 2 colleagues and 1 unknown player) and get accused for having a secret alliance etc.

my point is, i am playing mostly at wrk, where my access to the internet has no limits.. but as such we're sitting quite close together, to the extend whereby in a (Freestyle, doubles), we can discuss the strategies instead of typing in.. and in terms of singles games, who would not want to ridicule the other when one has won the other?

unfortunately, as my colleagues and myself are playing from the same IP addresses, company's that is.. we're not able to play with each other..

although our main motive was to play and enjoy the game together, we're not able to do so..

i really appreciate if someone can enlighten me wat i can do.. so that i can enjoy playin the game with my friend/colleague..

cheers

PS: all i can do now is play with new found counterparts..

djerkoff- please start a seperate thread with your case and I will look into it more. List the names that were busted but you know for certain are seperate people that you play with. I tried to glance at it quickly but there at least 13 names involved and some were definitely multis. It's too complicated to sort out without some more time and info which is best done in a seperate thread. And remember to fill out the form when you list yourself and the others

So is there a problem with playing a doubles or triples game with people at work as a team with the same IP address as long as we stay out of the same standard game.

as long as each one of you is making your separate turns, no one usually cares...not to say all....your only advantage is that it is slightly easier to communicate, but thats just more convenient, not an actual strategic advantage...there is an occasional random bust too, but...you just have to deal with that when if or when it comes
