Possible cheater? [no form]

I'm in a multi player game right now that had two new players that never played a turned and where booted, I kind of found it wierd so I did a quick check of all the other players just for fun. I found one of the other players seems to have many multi player games(like the multi I'm in) finished that also involves new players who never play a turn.

Does this sound suspicious??? :-k

Who ever is the cheater cop here can PM me and I'll let them know the game I'm talking about and the player, to save them the time.

I just found it wierd, and in the short playing history here to have two new players not even take a turn, thats why I decided see who might have planted them.

And the reason I call it cheating is it's a great advantage in a large multiplayer to know which players around you will not attack you for 3 turns before they are booted, this way you can eliminated the real oppostion and build up your borders knowing your fake players wont be attacking you from behind.

Well I wasn't sure if this was a form of cheating, and to see if my complaint is valid, so that's why I started the thread. I'm not the type to start whining and complaining unless I have a valid argument, and that was what I was asking.

Up until now, the only form of cheating I have seen people complain about is multies and secret allainces.

So do I need to fill out the said "form" to have someone look to see if my complaint is valid?

Thanks.

If he is creating these accounts, then yes, absolutely it is abuse. If they are just your usual deadbeating new recruits, then no, it's quite normal, actually... Honestly, if he is making these accounts, then it IS a problem and it SHOULD be reported. Your best bet is "When in doubt, report them.", as the people we have checking these things are good at what they do, and don't make many mistakes. Those that they do make are rectified. Believe me, you won't take up too much of their time, and if you're right, then we have a cheater off the site (good thing!). If you're wrong, then nothing happens, everybody continues to play as if nothing happens and this thread disappears into the depths of the C&A forum.

Thanks for the reply hecter, it lets me know how things work here.

Now I'm curious on how you can determine how somebody is creating fake accounts, it cant be by email address as 1 person can have a billion email addresses with yahoo and hotmail and any others I dont know about but I'm sure are out there.

When you use the internet, you have an address. It's basically just a string of seemingly random numbers. CC can read this address and if it finds that multiple people have the same address, they'll look into it and possibly bust them for multiple accounts. There are a few other things that they look at, but those are secrets of the trade, I suppose...

Well I'm no computer geek, but I'm self taught. My first computer was a Texas Instrument TI-99A casset hard drive, those little plastic things that where before cd's. Before that I did the bubble card thing in high school where you coloured in the the squares using a pencil on the cardboard type of paper, I think that was called fortran. Damn I'm old. Anyways I try to keep up with technology and I guess the newest thing out there is this WII, I'm not sure how it works yet, but from what I understand, if you have a laptop computer with the WII hook up you can use your computer with any remote wireless sender. Thus you would have the capababilty to create an account using a differant ISP (that address you mentioned)
I know about ISP's and my personal computer, but I'm not sure how this WII works, and I know for a fact that there are people using/hacking onto the net with WII technology, so I would think that gives them another ISP.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just using my own personal computer background and intuition.

No, changing your IP is very easy. I believe mine changes every time I turn off my modem, some ISP's will change as you surf, and you can go to proxies which will mask your IP. But, again, there are other things they check for other than just your IP address. Tools of the trade, as I said.

Anyway, we're getting a wee bit off topic. If you want to report this guy, just check the sticky at the top of this forum and use the form and them post it in this thread (I also recommend editing your first post with it in it as well). If not, we should probably just let this thread die.

Nice sig hecter

cdnfireman: as hecter said, if you copy the form to provide the game, names and reasons for suspicion we'll look into it for you. We can't explain how we determine multis because then everyone would be able to get around our methods....as long as players understand that the methods are effective and cheaters get caught, its good enough :)

Edit: Just edit your first post with the form and delete the [no form] which I've added. Thanks
