Comments:
So, I was playing a classic map game, fog, trench with 4 players and at one point, red (jgkg43) and i were the weakest and we worked something out to leave each other alone.

Blue (NapoleanRags) and i were kind of battling because he was trying to hold Europe (no truces existed for him), i had Oz and was angling for Asia, understanding i had a truce with red, from Madagan to Alaska, although green was pretty much winning the game, holding Africa and South America.

I thought I caught a lucky break, because green had essentially extinguished red and i was beating back blue, and green suddenly DB'd. I was in great position.

So, I've got blue beat and it's a critical turn, where I was about to hold Asia with nobody effectively challenging me at that point, putting me in position to tighten the screws on blue and take over.

Mind you, this was a fog game, so only blue was aware of what was about to happen.

So, out of the blue (no pun intended), red inexplicably attacks me on Magadan and parks like 8 troops there. No explanation; no response to my questions and comments after that point. Just silence from both blue and red.

Red was bordering blue, with neither of them attacking the other once, and blue held Europe while red obstructed me for a few critical turns, in a 20-round-limit game.

NapoleanRags (blue) won the game.

I didn't whine, much, but I thought it was weird, so I looked up the history of those two players together.

I found that they had played 10 games together, always on the same map, and all but one of those games, one of them had won; usually NapoleanRags. Both in the U.S. Created accounts a year apart.

I mentioned this to them. Red continued to obstruct but I otherwise got nothing but radio silence.

The game history is what i'm curious about. I've never seen or had a run like that with anyone.

Hmm, I don't know about being Multi's. Not too often 2 users are around for this long without being caught. Perhaps it could be Secret Diplomacy?

they are more then one person.

Do you have any evidence that they are conducting secret diplomacy?

I've played against NapoleanRag many times on classic, and can vouch he is a good player, thus am not surprised he's won as many games as you've noted. Looking at your game, red can easily infer you had all of asia by your region count combined with knowing everyone's rough position. Nothing suspicious there.

Yynatago - i would consider that a valid inference if not for the context; red and i had an arrangement, it was a 20 round game, and he/she never attacked blue when he/she had Europe OR responded to me after violating our arrangement. i just don't see how red's actions could be viewed as strategic and in the interest of winning the game.

plus - how do you explain the other 10 nearly identical games with nearly identical outcomes? :-$ 8-[

I've seen many players make moves that are not strategic. In this case red judged you to be the bigger threat with your double continent bonus and superior region count of 15 regions and acted accordingly. Personally i would have not wasted many troops given it was so close to round limit. I cannot tell from the logs how many troops were lost.

He's just that good a player. Don't let his current rank fool you.

Btw, i couldn't see any truce in game chat. Would that also change your perspective of the game? Best I saw was a mutual declaration of not intending to attack, which is not quite the same as a truce. When one has a change of heart and attack despite earlier declaration, it still feels like betrayal. Even when no words were exchanged to imply the declaration.
