let me guess... someone gave their password out to someone else who then screwed them over in games, blah, blah, blah... giving out your password is not hacking... i don't recall one documented case of hacking ever proven here on CC... this would be a first...-0

More like someone changed sigs. No games were screwed with to the best of my knowledge.

Sir... I know the contrariety between hacking and being injudicious with PWs. Had this even hinted at the essence of being a pw exigency, I would not have posted this. The first conclusion surmised is quite conspicuous and proper measures were taken prior to ensure password sharing was not the issue at hand. I do see your element of consideration though and appreciate you sharing your rationalization to try and help us get to the bottom of this! You are very kind.

So someone specifically hacked lacks database (which doesnt store passwords btw) to specifically get your password to change you sig?
I think its more likely that someone who has your password slipped up and just not told you

We don't have any evidence that the site was hacked by someone to gain access to a few user accounts. It does look like passwords were obtained by someone with access to account sitters accounts.
I can not stress enough the importance of password security. If your account sitter has a PM with your password, and his account sitter has a PM with his password and his account sitter.........has a PM with his password. Need I go on?
If you need a sitter change your PW before you go away and then change it again when you get back. I know that this is an inconvenience for that unexpected time when you are late getting home but sometimes as the say life happens.
