They have there ways. An IP check was probably done, but the Hunters don't reveal all of the evidence as this gives Multi's clues at how they are caught.

In this game (http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=8903761), they are clearly chatting to themselves with some elaborate conversation. I for one believe they could be multis, but just have an extreme case of schizophrenia.
