Accused:
Jpreno
hjames8
The accused are suspected of:
Conducting Secret Diplomacy
Game number:
8380578
Comments:
Never done this before but their comments and actions are obvious.
Game is still ongoing at time of posting, and I have not alerted them to their errors yet.
I got off to a great start, wouldn't have been surprised if they went after me in each of their own best interest, but It looks like they're against me, together, until I'm out.
Wouldn't mind playing the game out though, because I still might be able to beat them both.
Game chat:
2011-01-26 06:18:30 - jpreno: Green, our only chance is to go after blue together--truce till blue is gone?
2011-01-26 12:50:09 - hjames8: sure
2011-01-26 19:32:40 - jpreno: Green, why'd you take Mumbai from me? What about the truce?
2011-01-27 06:22:02 - jpreno: OK, then--let's get this over with
2011-01-27 12:37:28 - hjames8: oops i forgot to many games sorry

Diplomacy is allowed as long as it is only done in Game chat like this was.
No rules violation unless they have some wall/pm communication in re of the game.
I do recommend foeing and rating accordingly. A bs truce for sure. Also stay away from 3 player games and you won't deal with this as much.

Ok then I guess I was wrong about the rules.
Thanks for your candor, and I'll remember these things for the future.
Thanks.

Yes truces are allowed. I would do as jefjef recommends. I would also recommend reading the rules and community guidelines.
This is CLOSED.

Why is this a "bs truce"? As noted, he was off to a great start, and the only chance we had to win was to stop him together.
btw, it's also pretty clear from the dialog reported that there was nothing secret going on.
This is how you play the game.

Some people think any truce in a 3 player game is BS.

Thats right! Also it wasn't a lets even it up truce. It was an elimination truce. BS.

Thanks for the replies guys--I'm new to CQ, and I appreciate the insight.
But...
I have to say, everyone here seems a little overly sensitive. I've been playing Risk for over 30 years, and this is how the game is played. Sure, I proposed an "elimination truce", but so what? It's not a legally binding contract that's gonna land you in court when you break it--i.e., I took a risk proposing it, and we each take a risk each turn we honor the truce. Blue could have counteroffered to green, and of course, once the balance of power changed I would expect other discussions to happen (or at any time along the way for that matter).
Thanks for pointing out above that if you can't handle this sort of thing, you shouldn't play in a 3-player game. Also agree that it must be done in public--Secret truces are definitely BS.
Oh well, I guess I'll take some hits on my ratings for doing this "BS", but that's part of what makes the game fun.
Thanks again--good discussion.
