i received a rating of 1's and the tag Sore Loser from the accused. i pm'd him to ask why and received this response

It was for the ridiculous rating you gave me in that game. Delete yours and I will be more than happy to delete mine.

we have only played two games against each other therefore his rating must be from the 2nd game. a game that i won (and can not be a sore loser in)

surely revenge rating is against the rules here

last i knew 3,4,3 was an average rating

exactly, well a little bit over

because i found him to be a little above average (although not as high as he considers himself) he gives a revenge rating

imo this is against the spirit of the game/site

Revenge ratings are all over the place, suck it up sally. Look at any players rankings with more 500 games in and you'll see revenge rankings.

I don't think that rating is really going to hurt you. For now, I'd say just simply write a response saying it was a revenge rating. I really don't think that one rating will make a difference in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes people rate you all ones, it just happens.

because some may have been warranted (there have been times when my attitude was not nice, in others my game decisions were poor - so i wear them fair and square)

this one was not one of those

he told me he did it because my rating of him in the first game was not exceptional enough for him and he will remove it if i remove mine. he also rated me as a sore loser in a game i won so that stood out

i am hoping that as i do not complain about every poor rating i receive that the ones i do will be taken seriously but as it has been 3 days and no mod comment about it i guess they don't give a

I hope it is already clear that we do not remove any ratings given, even if they are retaliation ratings, unfair, etc. We leave that up to the players. If he does not remove it or you guys are unable to settle this, as what InsomniaRed said:
