if its bothering you so much, try reducing your border with someone else and see what they do. youd be surprised

i dont realy get the feeling there was an alliance here, you really can never tell, and i didnt see the map before you guys went after them, but ones from aussi, ones from canada, and they only have one other game together, doesnt mean its not possible, but it doesnt fit the profile of people who do that

Honestly, dont know either way - looked funny but there reaction is more telling than anything else - if nothing was going on - be calm, reasonable and respectful - dont freak out!

I had a game where a player thought I had broke a no attack border agreement but actually it had expired several turns earlier and when he mentioned in the chat that I was dishonest, and many other ugly things..I pointed him to review the chat and if he still felt that way - that I would deadbeat the game and he would have won then ...the win wasnt that important.
