The accused are suspected of: avatar abuse

Comments: CC has gone to great lengths to make sure that certain words are not visible within the forums and live chat, by having them auto-edited. this is because of the family nature of this site and the increased number of young adults that frequent the site. CC has also made a concerted effort to make sure that user avatars are not offensive, pornographic, etc, and there are several precedents of offensive avatars being removed and/or changed.

within Calidrmr's avatar, f*ck is clearly visible for several seconds at the conclusion of his avatars animation sequence. i believe this makes his avatar offensive, and it should be changed and/or removed. multiple members have had to remove their avatars for the very same offense, and Calidrmr's status as a CC volunteer should not make him exempt from the community guidelines that other members must adhere to.

2 pronouns, if i called you a chick would you like that jebus? Cali doesn't enjoy being called a guy.

But back to the case of avatar abuse, if CC were to say hey black jebus, you want to be a avatar police and hunt down all people with offensive avatars to change them or be banned and therefore having to change your own avatar because for sure some people find a black jebus offensive, BUT if that doesn't happen, i don't agree that 1 person has to change their avatar when hundreds of other CC players still have offensive avatars.

1. jesus was black. that is a fact. deal with it. and please tell me how a famous painting of the black jesus is offensive.

2.if you see an offensive avatar it is your duty to turn that person in. i have turned in multiple offensive avatars and have even had to educate team CC members as to why things like "black face" are offensive to community members. as members of the community, it is our duty to report things that are offensive to help keep the site/forums family friendly. before the avatar crack down, there were countless avatars of naked porn chicks, to the point that i would not let my child near my laptop when i was browsing the CC forums. if the avatar is deemed offensive, she should remove it. i can tell you that multiple members have had to change their avatars for foul language within their avatars, there is a precedent.

3. yes, 100's of others may fly under the radar and go unnoticed, but Cali is a member of team CC and should be held to the highest standards of the community. you lead by example. you do not lead by saying, "others are getting away with it, why can't i?" and again, if you see an offensive avatar, turn the user in. that would mean one less offensive avatar on the site.

the original complaint said it all. the avatar is offensive under CC's own rules and guidelines and should be changed. if she wants to throw a " * " in the middle of the offensive word as is done in the forums and live chat, that is fine. but a word that CC has deemed offensive should not be used by a member within their avatar.-the black jesus

Her avatar isnt offensive or flaming...And there is no rules against swearing as long as it isnt flaming

so if i have an animated avatar that says f*ck over and over, that is ok?

it is not reaching at all. members have had to remove avatars for the exact same thing. there is a precedent. go ahead and clear her and be ready for a slew of "f*ck" avatars showing up in the forums again. again, just because someone is a member of team CC, it does not make what they are doing right. the forums were populated with porn chicks and avatars with curse words such as f*ck, and they were cleaned up. it has already been established as a rule, it will be interesting if the new group of kinder mods change this rule and once again open the flood gates...

epic 19 or 20 page thread about what is and isn't an offensive avatar, i think you even posted in it... long and short of it, whenever an avatar breaks the forum guidelines, it is removed. if CC auto-corrects f*ck to not be read within the forums, an avatar should not have a word in it that CC does not allow in it's forums. avatars with f*ck in them have been removed before. it is common sense. furthermore in the thread, andy encourages reporting of offensive avatars so it is on the record and a proper ruling can be made. read the thread. it is what threads used to be like on CC before the forums were killed off and many of the older posters faded away during/after the forum clean up...

anyway, there is your thread LV... it is a really good and fun read. some of the avatars have changed, but you can get the gist of it all by reading it. and ron raises a good point... based on your initial feelings, i could have an animated f*ck avatar and be within the forum rules, despite f*ck being auto-edited by CC...-the black jesus

Still no one has produced an example of an avatar that was forced to change because f*ck was in it.

I didnt say he was. He could have been a Galilean Jew. He could have been an Arab. He could have been an African. It was the fact that it was stated as fact that I called into question.

if they are reported, they will be changed... i have reported offensive usernames/avatars and they have been changed without any problem. if you don't report them, they can't be dealt with. this is the part of CC where community policing is helpful... and i find it really funny that mods/volunteers are in here hoping that the avatar stands not realizing that all the hard work the previous mod squad put into cleaning up the forums will take a huge step back if this avatar stands. that is to be expected of the Junior Mint Mod Squad, i wouldn't expect anything less from most of them... the avatar is a clear violation of the rules. if you can't type f*ck without it being auto-corrected, why should you be able to display f*ck in your avatar un-corrected? again, i look forward to this ruling... either way it is going to be interesting...-the black jesus

i am a serious athiest so dont have a dog in the fight, but i am a history buff. jesus was a jew, the only area where there are any number of black jews is ethiopia, jesus was not from ethiopia. you can do the math, but if he was a historic figure it would be highly highly unlikely that he was black because the few black jews in the bible are pointed out as being black.

If the first part of this is true (other members had to change for similar offense), then the latter part is also true (mods should set the standards for everyone else)

Today that's the only area. Back then, many Jews had been slaves to conquerors who also conquered other parts of the world; so who's to say what Jesus' ancestry was, really?

Thank you Mr. Athiest for clearing up for us that the Jesus you don't believe in was in fact not black. And as for all of the other people who posted in this thread that they also believe Jesus was not black...

After reading that last post with Andy's quote from Owen and clicking on the link, the reason owen is hunting down avatars that are "against the rules" has become very clear, if you scroll down a little further and read a bit more of that thread, it looks like our accuser had some offensive avatars in the past as well... which he said he would not take down as quoted below

Now you want Cali to take down her avatar that is not flaming anyone as lovo pointed out, all because you were treated unfairly with your avatar? And believe me, because Jesus was never black, tons of people would be offended by your avatar as well.
