The accused are suspected of:Abusive Bigotry

I like to chat and try and advance my position in a game through game chat. It is often attacked and arguments often occur. However I've never before seen the type of personal attacks made by this person. I certainly don't pay to join a site to be accused of these things, this is supposed to be entertainment. Again there is chat back and forth but I am only providing a copy of the comments that violated site rules. If you want to see the entire discussion please visit the game chat.

General Stoneham's game chat - "Suck my balls PINK!" "Lick my ass PINK!" "I probably fucked your WHORE Mother years back!" "You should really get laid, but who'd f*ck you anyway?" "At least when you go to bed, you can dance with yourself."

The final comments this guy made are disturbing and very clear in his intent, "Masterbating to the internet ain't helping your strange fantasies with children?" Followed by, "Seek help."

I'd appreciate the appropriate action be taken against this person. Thanks in advance.

Note to mods: This complaint is being made under the "Abuse" section of this forum. No cheating has occurred and despite the fact one of you issued me a formal warning for submitting an abuse complaint recently, and failed to enforce clear violations of site rules dealing with abuse claiming that no cheating had occurred or no game rules were broken, I'm doing it again. The reason is simple, when I went to the Community Guidelines to find out what to do about this guy, it was clear in telling me to submit a complaint here. Exactly what it told me to do last time. It didn't say that game cheating had to occur as well and was clear that abuse can stand alone as the reason for my complaint. Is there any process for me to appeal the past decision to issue a formal warning to the OP when the rules support the OP and not the decisions of the mod? I've sent an appeal to the mod and got no response so I'm thinking that wasn't the right process. I've also read and read again several times everything I can find to read about rules and the like and I've either forgotten the appeal process or can't find it. Thanks.

Is that what you did? If you just foe this player, you wont have to read his gamechat comments and he cannot join any non tournement game you are already in.
I dont think your case has merit. There is an easyer way then mods moderating gamechat, hence you can foe..

Is that what you did? If you just foe this player, you wont have to read his gamechat comments and he cannot join any non tournement game you are already in.
I dont think your case has merit. There is an easyer way then mods moderating gamechat, hence you can foe..

Actually, on this one after reading that chat, Im more concerned he may have an actual psychological problem.

The sheer number of posts and references to children masterbating, pictures and children is simply disturbing, and I really hope it is not a cry for help from some middle aged guy who has lost control

Lets all hope this is just some perverse thrill he is getting from posting such things, and nothing more...

We have seen some examples of inappropriate behavior towards minors on CC before, I truly hope this is not another one.

I stated in my complaint that I had read the community guidelines, and I have; perhaps 15 or 20 times. I've also read every other instruction and rule and unwritten rule etc. etc. that this site has. I recently had a nasty, severe verbal dispute with a player over several days. In an attempt to retaliate and to make my stay at CC less enjoyable this player joined a team game I was waiting on and put himself on my team. Think about that. That's going to some pretty great lengths to ruin someone's day. No one disputed that he joined my team for only one purpose, to be an ass. Certainly his intentions were to take away as much enjoyment as possible from me. That was his clear intent and no reasonable person would contest that; and it wasn't contested.

So I read the guidelines saying that CC won't tolerate that behaviour. I did what the guidelines told me to do and I submitted a complaint to this forum. A mod responded and pm'd me to say that the player broke no rules, and has a right to join my team and do whatever he like and the mod was actually angry because the site provides me with the option to foe him so I get an official warning for submitting the complaint, exactly as the CC Guidelines told me to do. This is unfair. It's gone full circle when not only do you refuse to enforce the rules, but you penalize the player asking you to enforce them, just for asking.

If my issue was how to avoid this guy in the future then telling me to foe him would be a perfect response. My issue isn't about not being able to tolerate the occasional f*ck, or God Damn, or Jesus Christ, or....need I go on. I like CC's liberal policy when it comes to that stuff and I let out the occasional curse word myself. I did not file a complaint because a player cursed! I didn't say that anywhere in my complaint so I don't understand why you are quoting that rule and saying there was no violation. I totally agree, he did not violate the cursing rules. There are a lot of other rules he did not break, but I submitted the complaint to deal with the rules he did break.

He accused me of being sexually deviant with children on the internet. That is sexual bigotry in anyone's definition. The fact that CC is failing to protect it's members from that type of abuse and bigotry is ridiculous. This complaint was submitted so that he would face consequences for his actions which would likely save others from having to experience the same hate. You don't resolve that by foeing someone, that isn't the be all end all solution for every abuse complaint. Is is possible for a player to go over the top, cross a line, etc. If you were accused of having a sexual involvement with children wouldn't you think that a line was crossed? And we haven't even touched the sexual bigoted comment he made about my mother.

Here is another CC rule, "In no circumstances is bigotry allowed. * Bigotry includes racism, sexism, ...." It doesn't get much clearer than that. If you say this guy has not broken the rules then you absolutely must be arguing that his comments are not bigotry and that would be just plain wrong to argue that. So why not kick the guy out, do you want him here that bad? Here is another rule written in the guidelines, "Attacking a person instead of the user is NOT ok - it's all fun and games until it becomes personal."

And here is one that really throws your argument out the window. "Yes, we are liberal on coarse language, but this does not mean cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry is acceptable anywhere. You will be removed from the community for cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry. This is telling that guy to not bother trying to make that defence...yet you made it for him.

There is a lot of stuff there that has to be completely ignored to let this guy walk. I can't imagine why anyone would want this guy to walk when you consider his intent.

I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. While I disagree with just about everything you said, I do not challenge your motives, just the opposite, I'm appreciative you tried to help.

Thanks Zack, I hear you. I just feel that the effect that a single rating has, does not come close to delivering justice and doesn't protect the CC community from this guy nearly as well as a moderator with an on/off switch for this guy's account.

Like usual AA Fitz, you just had to go into one of my games and cause trouble, didn't you. Why don't you look in a mirror and look for the hypocricy. Your "passive aggressive" behavior is a tool you use to bring out the worst in posters.

Stealth, I DID visit game chat and checked out the lot...you are certainly no innocent party in the dialogue between the two of you...I can't stand pps who think a modicum of erudition allow them to raise the ire of opponents and who think they are not guilty of flaming barbs just becoz they don't revert to "cocksucker!!!"...they do however provoke that response.
Suggest you need to chill and moderate your own "tone"...pps who couch their bile in "high-fallutin" acidity should NOT throw the first stone...
If it really irks you that your parentage is questioned, just foe and move on....I'm not having to go there becoz YOU are the one who will be struck off MY Xmas Card List...

first, i am no mod. I'll just try to give my opinion. Disregard it if it displeases you.

you stated that you have read the community guidelines. I quoted the part about mods not intervening in game chat. That rationale behind this is that it would be very timeconsuming and also possibly unfair. in short it creates more problems then it solves. There is a much simpler tool here. The foe list. When you foe someone, their text will not longer be visiable to you and thus you can safely ignore them. Also that annoying player will no longer be able to join your games, so you wont have to suffer him any longer. In the foelist, you are jurge jury and executioner. Its your sole discretion. To me it says something that you take the time to write a complain instead of taking things in your own hand and just FAMO. (Foe and move on)

you quoted a bit about the not being annoying rule. As I see it, you have to systematicly ruin the site for many people. Just bugging one player once is just not going to do it. JoshyBoy e.g. likes the dude. As is his right. If CC would remove Gen StoneH. then his enjoyment might be lessered, so where does it end. Its a bit absurd analogy, but i hope you get my point, even if you might disagree with it.
Also, in the previous case, that player could have been foe'd, and maybe should have been foe'd. especially after joining the game to be an ass.. The mod must have thought that where 2 bicker, 2 are at fault. The only correct thing would then be to remove both of you, and that would be too harsh, dont you agree?. Also, if many complaints are made, the first one's might be disregarded, but they are still noted. so complaining has it uses, even if you dont get an inmediate result.

The community guidelines as writen specificly for posting in the forum. You neeed to tweak them a little for gamechat with the addition of the foelist. Its quite simple. Can you ignore his comments if you cannot see them? Yes?! then just foe him and move on.

I have had my run in. I still dislike the dude, but I have foed him, and where he hangs out i make sure i dont post. I dont want anything to do with the guy, ever again. And i try to keep my distance, and i have noticed i can now smile upon the episode and see where i went wrong. The guy is still an arse, but then so was i. Live, learn, take a breather and calm down. Take your distance is the best thing you can do right now. Foe him, dont read his forum posts and dont go checking up on what he is doing. You are also not entirely innocent, even if not even close in comparison, but you have fed the troll and the troll took a dump on you. stoneham likes flames. There used to be a ring of flames forum, and he liked it there. You attempted to rile him and got more then you bargained for. Let it be. if there are many more complaints, enevitiable stoneham will be banned, but right now, its not looking likely.

I hope that this helps understanding why someone might want to do nothing right now. Even if it feels unjustified and wrong. Trust me, and walk away from this mess. Continue playing and having fun and ignore the troll.

No, I could care less about you being banned or CC in this matter... I was simply concerned about the many references of masterbating, pictures, sex, fantasies, and children, in conversations that very well could included children and minors. It seems odd for someone of your age to be continually discussing such things, and I simply pointed it out so that any children reading could be made aware of a possible dangerous situation, as they should be careful on the internet of any that speak of such things to them, whether its you, me, or anyone.

The fact that you seem to continually discuss such things, when it wouldnt occur to most however is why its disturbing. I hope and suspect its just joking, but since the stakes are so high, its important that the possibility of ulterior motives are not discounted.
