I stated in my complaint that I had read the community guidelines, and I have; perhaps 15 or 20 times. I've also read every other instruction and rule and unwritten rule etc. etc. that this site has. I feel that there is selective enforcement of the written rules and a failure by some CC mods to deliver the protection that the site promises. What's really sad about this statement is that CC goes on to say, "if you don't agree...leave". What I'm hearing is that if I won't put up with the abuse then I can leave.
I recently had a nasty, severe verbal dispute with a player over several days. In an attempt to retaliate and to make my stay at CC less enjoyable this player joined a team game I was waiting on and put himself on my team. Think about that. That's going to some pretty great lengths to ruin someone's day. No one disputed that he joined my team for only one purpose, to be an ass. Certainly his intentions were to take away as much enjoyment as possible from me. That was his clear intent and no reasonable person would contest that; and it wasn't contested.
So I read the guidelines saying that CC won't tolerate that behaviour. I did what the guidelines told me to do and I submitted a complaint to this forum. A mod responded and pm'd me to say that the player broke no rules, and has a right to join my team and do whatever he like and the mod was actually angry because the site provides me with the option to foe him so I get an official warning for submitting the complaint, exactly as the CC Guidelines told me to do. This is unfair. It's gone full circle when not only do you refuse to enforce the rules, but you penalize the player asking you to enforce them, just for asking.
If my issue was how to avoid this guy in the future then telling me to foe him would be a perfect response. My issue isn't about not being able to tolerate the occasional f*ck, or God Damn, or Jesus Christ, or....need I go on. I like CC's liberal policy when it comes to that stuff and I let out the occasional curse word myself. I did not file a complaint because a player cursed! I didn't say that anywhere in my complaint so I don't understand why you are quoting that rule and saying there was no violation. I totally agree, he did not violate the cursing rules. There are a lot of other rules he did not break, but I submitted the complaint to deal with the rules he did break.
He accused me of being sexually deviant with children on the internet. That is sexual bigotry in anyone's definition. The fact that CC is failing to protect it's members from that type of abuse and bigotry is ridiculous. This complaint was submitted so that he would face consequences for his actions which would likely save others from having to experience the same hate. You don't resolve that by foeing someone, that isn't the be all end all solution for every abuse complaint. Is is possible for a player to go over the top, cross a line, etc. If you were accused of having a sexual involvement with children wouldn't you think that a line was crossed? And we haven't even touched the sexual bigoted comment he made about my mother.
Here is another CC rule, "In no circumstances is bigotry allowed. * Bigotry includes racism, sexism, ...." It doesn't get much clearer than that. If you say this guy has not broken the rules then you absolutely must be arguing that his comments are not bigotry and that would be just plain wrong to argue that. So why not kick the guy out, do you want him here that bad? Here is another rule written in the guidelines, "Attacking a person instead of the user is NOT ok - it's all fun and games until it becomes personal."
And here is one that really throws your argument out the window. "Yes, we are liberal on coarse language, but this does not mean cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry is acceptable anywhere. You will be removed from the community for cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry. This is telling that guy to not bother trying to make that defence...yet you made it for him.
There is a lot of stuff there that has to be completely ignored to let this guy walk. I can't imagine why anyone would want this guy to walk when you consider his intent.
I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. While I disagree with just about everything you said, I do not challenge your motives, just the opposite, I'm appreciative you tried to help.
