Accused:

loenatiek

Other: intentionally missing 2 turns, then playing and running out of time in his 3rd turn, and repeating.

Comments:
this guy already wasted 35 minutes of our speed game by not only deadbeating, but staying in the game by starting his turn every 3rd round.

Yeah. I'm in this game as well. Sure does take the fun out of a speed game when a player purposefully misses turns, comes back for deferred troops and then you get this "ran out of time," meaning, on top of it all, the player doesn't finish their turn, just to piss you off.

We all miss turns once in awhile because life happens. But I wish there was a way, when a player shows this type of mentality, that this could be handled better than "foe and move on."

But I guess that is the answer we will get.

That post looked and sounded more clear when I typed it. It was meant to say he isn't intentionally deadbeating. As he hasn't actually deadbeated yet

Care to point out where the accusation called out for "intentional deadbeating"? It clearly says purposely missing turns.

Regardless of this fact, when did "deadbeating" come to be defined as "being kicked out of the game for missing 3 turns"? In my opinion, you are a deadbeat the moment you purposely miss any turn.

I'm gonna go with the title.
And intentionally deadbeating is missing turns to throw the game. And we will only take action if it becomes a habit. Not just after one game.
Intentionally missing turns is not against the rules. Although seriously annoying and bad ettiquite.

Touche. But at least he didn't include it in the report.

Is the definition of "deadbeating" clarified anywhere in public for us to see? Because if you take it for it's literal definition, any intentional missing of turns would fall under "deadbeat".

All I can find is the following:

"Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits."

I just fail to see any difference between what the rules call "intentional deadbeating" and what you call "intentionally missing turns". Are we really allowed to purposely miss 30 turns in a 40 round game as long as we never purposely miss 3 in a row? Seems like a flawed assumption you are working with.

Yeah. I'd like to jump back on this dead horse again. And I know it is just that. Nonetheless, back on it I will go.

I understand it is nebulous. Case in point is the dude who was missing turns last night. Seems he was having computer problems. Hell. I've had those too. So maybe that was the case. Or maybe, since I looked at his ratings and saw that this has been a problem in a few of his other games, he decided that he didn't need the undo attention of the mods and chose to play. Only he knows for sure. But it changed the nature of the game without a doubt.

But I agree with Bones' point here. From the moment I joined last July I have been frustrated that the Mods have chosen to interpret "dead beating" as three misses and out, when we've all encountered players who (mistakenly) believe that missing turns gives them the advantage and miss two turns and play the third. All they end up doing in a multi-player game is ruin it. They deadbeat themselves to a loss.

Let's call it staggered dead-beating but it is dead-beating nevertheless. I've encountered it in many other online games and this behavior has always been dealt with severely... even when it really is a chronic local server or computer problem. Other players shouldn't have to put up with it.

I hope the Mods will review this topic again. Thanks for your attention.

Also, what if someone starts missing turns on purpose at the end of a game and you kill him before he misses the 3rd turn? I don't want to wait for that shit, when it's done on purpose.

Missing turns on purpose to throw the game is deadbeating, even if it's one or 2.

Yeah that pisses us all off, but proof is impossible. No one can read minds.... There are always multiple excuses when you call someone on it. Rate, foe and move on..... So you only have to play a cheap piece of shit once.

True, but statistics can always take care of that.

If the bastard pulls this in games where he is obviously losing MULTIPLE TIMES then that is that.

One or two times arn't going to cut it for sure, but a serial deadbeater can be busted, even if most are 1-2 turn deadbeats.

Again the onus is on proof. If they have a history of it, and are taking other non speed turns, then its relatively easy to bust them. Not all low lifes are that stupid :( Still requires a lot of work to check up on it etc. Still much easier in my book to foe, forget and move on.

Yeah. I buy all that. Not a problem for me. But I feel the definition should change. Chronic turn missers need a title. Once there is a definition agreed upon for this behavior only then can there be a conversation about what, if anything, should be done about it.

Thankfully, the higher I rank-up and the more I'm in games with players of similar rank, the less it happens.

Yeah as you rank up you meet a different/better class of arseholes, that are smart enough to work out the maths on missing turns.

I don't see a pattern in other games where he misses 2 then plays. And reading the chat he did say he was having puter troubles. So giving him the benefit of the doubt I will NOTE this for future reference.
