FaiDillinGer

Postby Otsu on Fri Mar 12, 2010 1:47 pm

Accused:

FaiDillinGer

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Playing against the spirit of this great club

Game number(s):

Game 6576963

Comments: Berlin 1961, 6-player triples, manual FoW. Currently being played. A 3-player team set the game up: I joined and took potluck on teammates. I suggested a strategy which my teammates followed. I played first and set up a very favourable early position. FaiDillinGer, playing yellow, was next in my team to play. He was stacked 13-13 against an enemy blue, and I deployed all I could on him. FaiDillinGer killed blue, then proceeded to wipe out as many regions as he could of our teammate pink. He has destroyed the game for us, and I feel sure that he has destroyed the enjoyment of the game for all the other participants.

He may be a very cunning multi. But it appears that he has set himself the perverse goal of being the lowest point-scoring CC member. Fair enough if he plays by himself, I suppose. But it is not in the spirit of the game for him wilfully to destroy his own team.

He is a plague on this great club. If he cannot be kicked out, then I suggest that he is publicly branded for all to see, so that he cannot spoil the enjoyment of players in future teams that he joins. If he could be tarred and feathered, then ridden out of town tied backwards on a mule, well then, that would be a bonus.

He did some teammate killing in this quad game also. Game 6428999. Helped out my team quite a bit. Thought he was just a bad player but this must be intentional point dumping. He has only 1 point.

He has the lowest points in CC, a 89% play rate and YOU chose to join him in a team game that he was already in, maybe check out a player's stats before you whine, he paid his money, I don't recall any rules about having to be intelligent here.

There are rules against intentional point dumping and serial teammate killing. Looks like this is the case.

How the hell can he 'dump' points. He has only one, from what I see he is usually the 1st one in on team games, his stats speak for themselves.

He had 7 points yesterday or the day before.

I played against him a few days ago in a quad game and round 2 he killed off 4 or 5 of his teams terts.

My money is that this is intentional.

played this player earlier left a low rating as he took out his own teammates. he was a great player , only for us not his teammates. He did make the game less fun. the victory was tainted by his play.

I am in agreement with the majority here. My first team game was with Fai, it was also my last. He single-handedly wiped out his own team in less than 3 rounds. While the rest of us communicated, shared troops, and discussed in length what the best next moves would be, Fai did not participate. In fact he intentionally did everything contrary to the team goals at hand.

In response to GreatWhite; one should not have to be checking up on the quality of others' effort before joining a game. The whole idea here is that we want to have fun at a unique and, thanks to CC, evolving strategy game. Collective fun is not achieved by stepping into a game with a teammate killer, neither is it achieved by having to look into everyone's stats before joining a game. Regardless of how intelligent one is or how well one plays the game, one should be putting forth the most effort one can to winning, learning, and having fun. Sounds like the best Fai could be doing is having fun, and even then what kind of fun could he be having? It certainly is not fun achieved in the spirit of CC.

Hey, Greatwhite, you are so right, I absolutely should have chacked his stats out first. A friend of mine pointed this out to me, and the penny dropped then. But I didn't know that at the time. I have learned a lesson that I didn't know had to be learned, and the reason that I am posting is not because I am whining, but because I don't want other players to be hurt by similar experiences.

Not that any of us are so easily hurt, of course.

As for intelligence, you are way off topic. I have every sympathy for people who are trying to learn the game, well I am one of them. But people who are learning the game just to have the perverse pleasure of destroying the enjoyment of others? Do you really support that?

I have a suggestion, just you and me, let's have a series of say 7 head-to-heads, we can discuss maps, we'll see who whines after that.

I also played a team game 6426007 with Fai. I was on his side he killed me off. I have no idea why he did what he did as he never responded to my question.
I agree with donovon34 that you shouldnt have to spend time checking out each potential teammate, it distracts from the fun of the game.
Perhaps CC could introduce an icon for those players consistently reported as a teammate killer. Or better still stop them playing team games for a period unless invited.

Cue the violins , if you don't bother to check who you play with in a team game you deserve what you get, if he's intentionaly being stupid and that deserves a punishment, half of CC members should be suspect, I've played with my share of stupid partrners in over 6000 games, but I didn't whine, I just didn't play with them again . . . such a hard concept.

Why on earth defend this. Is it such a hard concept to you that the stupid half of us at CC do not serial team kill. Incredible. Must be a buddy of yours.

Several of us (me) have only played against him and don't want him in the game.

Boot em CC. Serial teammate killing - point dumping and you could toss in ratings abuse and more....

A) he can't point dump, he has only one lol
B) I'm not defending him, quite the contrary, I suggest no one play with him, I only advise using a few brain cells to avoid him
C) I too do not want him even against me because if he wins I lose a shitload of points
My only point is is to not pick a game with him as a team member and whine later because you were too stupid to check out his stats

OK. I gotcha. He is indefensible. But the point of this complaint is the reason he has 1 point is by intentionally doing it. IE Teammate killing to get there.

He is NOT trying to win games and is ruining game enjoyment for many.

Greatwhite

(A) I don't care if he dumps his own points or not, the issue is that he is dumping his teammates' points.

(B) and (C). Who are you calling stupid? I was ignorant, I freely admit it, ignorant of the need to check stats for the reasons we have talked about. But that aspect of my ignorance is cured now. Stupidity is not so easily cured. It is just like me calling you too stupid to use the English language properly, when you are only ignorant of how to use it.

When I was new I didn't care a lot about winning, just liked to play, learn, compete. I played with other ppl with poor stats to try for the big upset. Because as a new player most people would ask me to leave their team if I tried to join.

There is a BIG ASS difference between going into a game the underdog and trying to pull an huge upset and have a lot of fun in the meantime and joining a game the underdog and your teammate kills you in round 1.

Big difference. There is no "learning, playing, and competing" in an atmosphere like this. I don't think the guy should lose his account, just be banned from ruining other persons fun in teams (and if that isnt possible, then suspend him). This game is still about fun. And when you have a jackass trying to ruin the fun on your team... well there are rules and we are all adults. There is no sense in this.

You are defending the guy... And It also makes me wonder why?

Conquerclub should not be so serious ,and it isn't to the vast majority , that one has to do a game scan and fbi background check complete with personality tests before joining up with a perspective partner.

RULES VIOLATED:

Intentionally throwing games
Points dumping
Serial teammate killing
Racism Game 5907112
Ratings abuse
90% turns = possible intentional deadbeating

Looks like at least 4 major infractions.

Thanks, army of nobunaga, for taking the time to post so thoughtfully.

Consider this, Greatwhite. If we all check to avoid teaming with players with low ratings, how can we be sure that we are avoiding only players with wrong intentions, and not also turning our shoulders on honest players who just need to learn?

As you say, it doesn't really concern you, because you avoid low-ranked players anyway. So who is going to play with these low-ranked players? Well, lots of the time it's going to be other low ranks, and a lot of them are going to be new or newish to CC. And it is precisely these new members who need to be warned about players like FaiDillinger.

FaiDillinGer can put new members off playing in team games for good. And in my game, after chatting enthusiastically when we discussed deployment, my other team member has not posted in chat. And he has not replied to my pm either. I suspect that he thinks that I am part of some dirty joke against him, I don't know.

CC is a community of players from all around the world, as I am beginning to experience. People like FaiDillinGer corrupt that community.

I agree with you, Greatwhite, that the world is far too full of rules and regulations, and that all these systems are open to abuse as well. At least that is where I think that you are coming from, you sound like a libertarian who advises us to be wise enough to look after ourselves. If so, then we walk a long way down the same road together.

But in this case I think that something should be done about this problem.
