Other: I apologize if I have placed this in the wrong forum, however it may be construed as being abuse. The player in question has a name/userid that is offensive and inappropriate.

Game 5896598

Comments: I am not Jewish but I am sure that there would be many who are and find the name to be intolerable for obvious reasons. This name obviously implies many things, and hence the reason why I am submitting this report. And I realize that Wikipedia is a reference tool, but it IS a good one...thus, here is their explanation of what "Third Reich" is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Germany

Doesn't mean it is innappropriate. He might for some reason like what happened back then. Although it can be offensive to Jews.

Sort of. It's more the connotations of the name due to it being Germany during the Hitler regime, namely the Holocaust if you didn't figure that out. The Nazis were the political party Hitler founded as he rose to Chancellor.

(I'm Jewish, though not religious.)

Playing devils advocate, if his name was "Stalin" or "CCCP", a guy and group who killed way more people, including the persicution of jews, than the nazis, would we be having this conversation?

Or what if his name was Dixieland? would the slavery card be trotted out?

Food for thought for those who like to knee jerk about shit.

However, all that being said, usually this stuff is done for precisely the connitations that are comming to mind. Poor choice of username.

Just for reference, my grandparents left Germany right before the Holocaust, and lost a lot of family to the Nazis. So yeah, I hate them on a nearly personal level.

Even so, I think you should leave the username alone... as long as he's not spewing racist remarks, I'm not sure it's hurting anyone all that bad. I suppose it's possible though...

Also, I'd just like to mention, I've seen the username ...Stalin... around a few times, so I'm assuming that's allowed. And, if it is, I guess it follows that you should allow "Hitler" and "Third Reich," right? I mean, I'm not trying to get into a "who's worse, Stalin or Hitler" argument, but I think most can agree that they were both pretty damn horrible. So, anyway, if you allow Stalin, allow the others, as much as I don't want to see 10 little Hitlers running around CC... my 2 cents

Unless a user name is obviously offending we will not ask the user to change it. It's like Commander62890 said there are other user names that are allowed but can be taken the same way. This report will be marked CLOSED.

On another front in this thread it has been brought up that this is Veteran's Day. One of the things our veterans have fought for is freedom of speech and I believe this user exercised that right. Yeah I know this is a site based in Canada but I believe you get where I am coming from.
