Also, this is not a spurious report, so no punishment will be handed down to the accusers. Also, I personally do not listen to just the "vocal few", as you put it. Whatever the outcome, rest assured it will be weighed carefully.

Sigh. Since it has been made clear, over and over again, that "farming" only applies to NRs, what one earth is there to be considered?

as i was scrolling through this browsing the comments i was thinking the exact same thing as leehar pointed:

Leehar wrote:I think it's just interesting that I suspect an unbiased third party (who hasn't really been involved in the forums or any of the other numerous engagements happening here in C&A and elsewhere) looked at this from his uninvolved perspective and thought this was something worth being concerned about and reporting?

How does this reflect on CC? when a random user is questioning these tactics, we have seen top players been busted for a wide range of things, and i dont recall any none-forum posters making threads about the big names.. i would be curious to see how other players that dont read the forums and have an unbiased opinion on the matter feel about his tactics? more importantly has team CC gone out to talk to any of these players GLG has 'taught'? if they feel it was a positive learning experience then its really a case close, right?

i remember AOD playing TOFU in a clan war.. AOD was getting killed, in short TOFU was just a way better clan... it got to a point where no one in AOD wanted any games because we were getting beat so bad... I took on EVER game at the end, to the point out of 10 or 15 games i was in 75% of them.. why? so i could see how they play, what they do different, learn from getting beat by the better players.. and it made me a better player.. i bring this up because some people learn best this way and if GLG has really been teaching inexpierenced players on those maps it might be a positive thing for CC...

that my 2 cents on these cases against GLG anyway

the fact this is still pending gives me some hope that maybe there is some change coming..... :-$

as a paying customer it would make me happy if lack stood behind his statement...

lackattack wrote:the scoreboard is meant to measure skill in the game, not "harvesting" techniques.

Lackattack's Ruling on Newbie farming - 1st January 2009

it seems to me as he is not just talking about "farming NR's" but all forms of taking advantage of lesser experienced players to increase there score....

and for one player to come up with a system that guarantees him a win 95% (if not higher) of the time and slowly (3 years) crawl up the scoreboard (1800 points to 5049 points) to the very summit is the epitome of "harvesting techniques"....

anyway that's all I have to say on this.....

maybe its taught them they dont enjoy those settings or maps? we all learned one way or another about settings they hate, right?

look im not trying to defend the guy, i dont like the tactics myself... i just think if CC cares about its product and a single player or tactic is reflecting negatively to the site, then something should be done to change that...

what do these cases show more.. how little the people running the site care? or that GLG is just a master at tip-toeing the rules

this is an interesting statement, King_herpes played speed freestyle on City mogul.. all open games, he was just that good he could take on anyone and was willing to do it... i respect that.. any person that is that dominate at one setting or game gets atta boy/girl/unic from me... but to hide and invite those u know u have a very distinct advantage against is low in my not important opinion

I think it is allowed, I remmber 6 months or so back there was a player (not going to name who) that would systematically go through the scoreboard and invite players around from 1800-2500 to a 1v1 on a complex map like stalingrad, das schloss, waterloo ect, that the officer never played before with fog/no spoils. There was never any uproar about this or a C&A report filed to my knowledge because most people thought 'oh well he knows how to play the game, so if they join games that they iare almost guaranteed to lose. Nobody got upset even though he was taking adavantage of players and the scoreboard and rose pretty high up to the top. So I think the problem lies in what people deem as competent enough to make decisions. Everyone agrees that NR's and cooks probably arent competent, but what about sergants and corporals? would they be considered fair game and capable of knowing that they are being taken advantage of?

yes but what i have noticed happening is as soon as glg beats these players(unexperianced ones. the ones that show they no nothing about the map...) they get a invite from lanlards to a doubles game (they have already shown they just join them.) with glg on his side..(or does glg not join until the game is filled.)these games have the same mo private and with teammates of similar no experiance on the map maybe the mods should look at this because there must be some rule being breached there.

I have to agree with this... I realise that lots of others have done the same thing. Players just dont care unless they are general+, because they arent noticable. I think players are just upset over the way our conqueror gets his points, because the conqueror is supposed to be the best. And IMO, GLG is not the best, he just is another one of those guys who has the patience to work the scoreboard.

GLG and his friend were talking one evening over a few drinks. GLG advised his friend how much he enjoys hunting. His friend who has never hunted before became extremely interested in hunting due to the stories and tips that GLG provided him. That said, one day his friend traveled to the middle of no where to attempt a successful hunt. With the possibility of leaving empty handed, the friend gave it his all. The friend purchased top of the line hunting gear, a nice gun, plenty of warm clothing and the like, however after several grueling hours, this friend came up empty handed and eventually left all the while becoming extremely frustrated as he thought he was a bad hunter. Meanwhile GLG travelled to the nearest "zoo" where he starts his hunt. After about 30 minutes, a u-haul truck had to be rented by GLG as he left with a truck load of various meats while the other poor sap had to resort to a candy bar which be brought with him.
The next day while online, GLG pm'd his friend to ask how the hunt went. The friend told GLG about the bad experience. As nice as GLG is, he told his friend to go to live chat where he can offer him a different way of hunting that guarantees a successful outing. The friend agreed to this live chat and received invaluable tips on what to do the next time he hunts. See the irony here?

The end!

GLG is inviting them to speed game, two totally different cases. Technically u can learn a map within 1 day but it is not possible for 5 minutes ;)

And since no player can learn a map within 5 minutes, its classic farming and bug using.

Nice story codeblue lol

I agree with you on the learning a map thing. I guess what my point is thats there are various ways/methods to manipulate people for points if you wish. If you only use a few then people dont seem to mind but GLG combines and/or 1ups certain manipulation techiniques which is why so many people get upset.

I really doubt that at this point that the players who play with GLG actully expect to win their first freestyle mogul against a specialist from the start. Now if GLG is making sound like they actually have a shot at winning and lures them into the games then he should be punished. From a lower ranks perspective, I remember when I was a corporal, I got super excited when I played Herpes or anyone brig and higher because for some weird reason there was a form of nostalgia attached to playing somebody so high up on the scoreboard. I still had that slim hope that I might win, even though realistically I had 0% chance at beating them. Im not sure if that is relevent or not. All in All, if people have so many problems with what he is doing, the system should be change before people file a C&A report every few days.

May I suggest a short term solution?

Put a warning up on the home site saying "do NOT play city mogul"

This reminds me of drug forums where everyone says, "SWIM" as in "Someone who isn't me" so as to not incriminate themselves. I got this knowledge from SWIM because I would never go on a forum about illegal drugs [-X
