i would guess that its an automatic thing about deleting games, having to do with how the database is set up.

Because deleting games causes holes in the database, and the more holes there are in the database, the higher the chance for errors in the database that will affect the whole site. There are also other issues such as only admins can delete games since it's a change in the database (but hunters can bust multis) and if you immediately delete all the games, it makes appeals processes harder to investigate.

Because they weren't supposed to be played. The rules explicitly stated that the map was only to be played during the World Cup except for the officially sanctioned tournament. When the map was temporarily reopened to make those tournament games, all non-tournament games were not sanctioned and had to be eliminated.

Besides, if those games were not a big deal, why are you complaining that they were deleted?

The rules also explicitly state that no one should make multis to play games; so again, under that logic, if you can have holes in the system for games that someone arbitrarily decided "no to some, yes to others (games on WC, patty, etc.)," then you should be able to make holes in the system for games where all the rules consistently state, "no to ALL (multis)"

Obviously, it cannot be automatic because of the need for the appeal process. Also obviously, there are many known multis that have exhausted or are ineligible for the appeals process; yet their games are not deleted, points were never reset.

ok nightstrike cleared up the thing about the multis that is fair enough we dont want the site crashing because of this.

on the thing this thread is all about there are 4 simple questions that need 2 be responded 2

1)cayman when were these games played before or after this thread
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=124306

2)i have looked through the forum and cannot find any posts regarding the world cup map not being alowd 2 play (remember st Patricks map there was a thread started by mods telling players not 2 join games on this map)i might of missed it but can not find one.

3)there was no bug on the map so why were the completed games deleted. i understand it is a seasonal map but would it not of been easier to pm the players that were in games that had not started telling them 2 drop them and allow the games that were being played 2 stay the same only because no harm was being done by them.(please note this was not the players fault so why should they be punished for it)

4)cayman did you attempt in any way to bring this up with either king a or andy before posting this thread.

And yet they are the only ones who can deal with it even when it's posted in public.

Subject: Official 2010 CC World Cup Event

Limited Edition "World Cup" Map

With the help of MrBenn and the Cartography Team we bring you the Limited Edition: World Cup Map! It will be available for play for the duration of the World Cup from June 11th until July 11th :)

If it's only available for play during that time, then by elimination it's not allowed to be played after July 11, 2010. No one has to make a new post saying "Don't make new games on this map just because it's available for the official tournament." That's just drawing attention to the map so that more people would make games. Quietly open the map, get the tournament games made, and close the map. If someone happens to see it and make some games, either allow the games or delete the games. The admins chose the latter option, and they don't have to make announcements to the public about why they did it because it was already stated as being a limited map.

Also, the tournament winners have the chance to work with MrBenn to make a bracket-style map, so a similar map will come out eventually.

AND as we already said, they only opened it up to create the next round of Tournie Games. You are twisting his words.

Yeah, and do you think they WANTED it up for public to play? NO. If they could have had it so only TO's could start games, then they would have, but they couldn't. You already knew the map wasn't meant to be played on, yet you used this loophole to play on the map.

If I want to create a game on this map for the tournament, I have to go through a process to enable it to be opened. When it is opened in this way, it is intended for the use only of myself, Gilligan and amazzony. While everyone else is ABLE to make games during this short window, those games are not sanctioned through the official channels like ours have been. THAT is why the games were deleted. You are not being punished for creating the games!
