FFS, it seems like a trend of players using whatever means (cheating) as a result to gain points. Pathetic how much cheating goes on here.

I think the case is closed when the mods are satisfied not when you decide it is
Aside from the babysitting we still have this small matter;

" And finish up games for about 5 more people than that_ LOL ''

Is it acceptable for his brother to start a game, or perhaps just set it up, then let Max play it ?

Is it acceptable to take over from somebody in a game because they are bored or short of time ?

Lol I did wink comic, you know kinda jokingly... nevermind ill highlight it with [joke]..[/joke] next time :P

As for the Brothers games thing, I don't know if its acceptable. However it is legal and because of that the accusation of babysitting abuse doesn't apply here surely? I can't remember any such case where someone got punished for completing a game for someone :P

Frop wrote:Wow, I think I hit a snare there. Once again you prove my point though by completely ignoring the freestyle teamgame bit. Please do insult me a bit more to show off your impressive rhetoric skills.

I didn't ignore it Frop, I have just been arguing why that is not the case for the last day and a half. If you think to read back then please do comment again.

As with the earlier case with SkyT it often requires debates such as this to determine what is considered acceptable to both the community and the mods, the point has been made before though that just because a particular practice is not specifically banned does not make it ok. Im sure that if I could persuade a fairly low rank to set up 6 escalating games against majors and let me play then he might do very nicely ( And I could try some new maps with no risk ) it wouldn't be fair though and it wouldn't be right. I dont want to see Max castigated by the mods but I do think it should be made very clear to him that if he wants to play a range of games then they should be on his account, with his points at stake.

There does seem to be some precedent here.

The thread below was about account sitting whilst the account holder logged in during the same 24 hours and received a warning.

The rules are pretty clear:

Copied from FAQs:

15. Can I let another player take a turn for me when I am away from the game?

You can, with the stipulation that the account babysitter is not your opponent in any current game and does not start or join new games (except for ongoing tournaments). It is common courtesy to announce in game chat that another player will take your turn(s) during your absence. Furthermore, you should only take another player's turn if they are in danger of missing a turn, not for the purpose of gaining a tactical advantage.

Note the bold part. Freestyle team games is just that... playing at the same time for an advantage...

Game 2193033

2008-04-11 16:46:50 - Paddy The Cat: gl
2008-04-13 17:22:36 - Paddy The Cat: gg
2008-04-15 04:23:07 - Paddy The Cat: gg

A triples game ending at a very unusual time for Paddy. According to game logs, he had taken his turn earlier in the afternoon. Apparently the game was pretty much over and says 'gg'. Now at 4:23 ( which could be 723 in Eastern), "Paddy" finishes and also says "gg" again. A mistake by Max, but this game doesn't appear to be abusive. You could give Max the benefit of the doubt by saying he wanted to clean up the game- no harm no foul. It does however give you a pattern for future mistakes Max makes when he sitting and does gain a tactical advantage.

Game 2542502

2008-05-30 21:55:00 - maxatstuy fortified Wisconsin with 9 armies from Illinois
2008-05-30 21:55:18 - Paddy The Cat receives 2 armies for holding Confederate Ships

Game log shows both players to be logged in at approximately the same time with an 18 second time gap from one to the other. The time now 10 pm (1 am Eastern), possibly an unusual time for Paddy but not Max.
.
2008-05-30 13:52:37 - Paddy The Cat: gg ^_^
2008-05-30 21:56:43 - Paddy The Cat: gg

Again "Paddy" is the last player to finish, and again another "gg" unlike the real Paddy's signature cat. To say good game/ or good going (not sure which it is) twice is extremely uncommon. Sure if the chat's deep, and you stick around to watch the end of a game ( in singles), it happens but not in team games. A sure sign, for me, of being mistaken on which account you're logged into.

I have to agree there. I looked at a good bit of games, and paddy does use the "^_^" in a good bit of his phrases. I assume that to be the cat. On the other hand, if Max was playing you would see "lol" every 2nd or 3rd line.

"What do you want to be when you grow up Bruce?", Bruce's father asks gently.

With no hesitation the young Bruce responds, "I would like to be a police officer".

"Well son, do you realize that people despise the cops and informants tend not to live long", the concerned parent adds with great emphasis.

-the lesson in this short take from my endless imagination is that nobody likes snitches...and that they sometimes end up in ditches-

I think you should drop your account Bruce and start a new one called DonnieBrasco'swar.

In this situation, playing in team games where you know each other's password, or you know your teammate's password is too much of a convenience and could also mean sharing of accounts. With this knowledge that you know all these passwords, the temptation of playing team games or even non team games with these accounts, whether the real owners are aware of what you already know or not, could also mean that you could log in to these accounts at any time and play in two or more accounts at the same time in one or several games, thus the purpose was already turned into gaining a tactical advantage and no longer just for avoiding missing turns.

Therefore, I have no choice but to put a block on these accounts mentioned below, including yours, because of your access to them. These blocks may also involve other accounts as well.

All may appeal through the e-Ticket and we shall deal with it individually. If there are still accounts not mentioned below, I suggest that you change your password and avoid using someone to babysit your account who already has access to a large number of other accounts.

As far as I understand this only max is blocked from playing with any of the mentioned accounts.

From the quick verdict in such a high profile case, it's apparent the evidence against Max was indeed overwhelming. Nice bust- Bruce. Keep up the good work......turns out it had nothing to do with a vendetta after all.

Yes, good job Bruce, and King for the quick bust. I'm glad this was settled quickly. Even though it seems likes it's been forever, going through over 100 posts. Good work guys!

It is tragic that all Maxatstuy received were blocks against a multitude of players without a point reset as he has profited from his cheating more than the previous players that committed less offensive methods but yet suffered far worse fates. At the end of the day, to be placed on the Wall of Shame is the stiffest punishment he will receive because your thread is a trademark of the best that has ever played the game.

A block was placed on each account, therefore from this point no two players on the list can join the same game.

How does this seem fair? If max was the one abusing the sitting. Why should KingOfGods, and Prankcall not be allowed to play together anymore? or any of them for that matter, besides playing with max.

Okay, Max is blocked as the others but what prevents him from abusing the system again by joining/playing in any of those accounts? From Comic's posts, his biggest concern was Max playing under a different alias. What if someone gives him the password to their account, will the multi hunters have a system in place to know because there wont be game logs to prove it?

I was thinking the same. Where did your name come from and why would you be blocked from playing with all these other players. Only thing I can think of is they fear max would play any 2 of these accounts at one time as a doubles game. That is the only thing I can think of.
