I would like to congratulate player JLiverwurst for being one of the best Freestyle quad game players on this site. He won an impressive 75 out of 88 games with these settings: Manual, Parachute, Quadruples, Freestyle. On Kings Court II even 47 out of 52 games, holy shit. Of course experienced players will have noticed that on these settings, if you have a tight knit team that works together well, you can build a stack in no time and within 1 or 2 turns eliminate an opponent, especially if… the 4 players on your opposing team are inexperienced, don’t know each other and don’t collaborate well.

So let’s look at JLiverwurst’s team. Yeah, they do look well-coordinated and have played a lot together. I see johnnynagasaki and Sticky_Hatch on the same winning team a lot. There is nothing wrong with that by the way.
Let’s now look at the opponents. Yeah, lots of random people that don’t play together a lot or at all. A lot of cooks and cadets. A lot of freemiums. And sometimes even a major like myself. Yes, me too. I got an invite and I usually accept random invites out of courtesy. But I was teamed up with 3 inexperienced players that didn’t communicate in chat, did their own thing uncoordinated and although I tried to coordinate efforts in chat, it was in vain, in turn 2 one of us was already eliminated. I felt like having been “farmed” but I left it at that, just left rating for cheap tactics.

But I look at “waiting” games a lot. And I started noticing that there are often “waiting” games with JLiverwurst and his experienced team with “invites” outstanding to, you guessed it, inexperienced players.

I put it that JLiverwurst and his compadres are farming inexperienced players that they actively seek out and send invites too. Of course, I can’t see for all “completed” games whether the opponents were actively seeked out and invited or joined on their own, based on being a likely “easy target” but I am willing to go out on a limb and say they are.

I'll make this easy for everybody. I won't join any more games.

The timing actually is perfect: my premium membership just lapsed, and I told everybody I would be renewing after a few weeks, but not if these gotcha games are still going on.

You accepted an invite two years ago to a rematch, deliberately deadbeated the game, and made false assumptions about my friends and me and warned people not to play with me since.

In the game you're complaining about, the "random people that don’t play together a lot or at all" are referrals of mine who almost always play together—sometimes with me, sometimes against me. We talk every day. We play other games together elsewhere. We will continue to play other games together elsewhere.

But if we can't play Risk together here, then the site serves no purpose for us, whether or not I'm still being harassed by somebody I foed two years ago.

I hoped the New York 1695 and Classic Conquest maps were a sign the site was looking to attract new people and grow again, but I don't enjoy the drama and don't have any more time for it.

I'll be following him out the door. I'm here because JLiverwurst is my friend and he invited me to play with him and his other friends. I'm getting farmed about as much as my dad was farming me playing Risk across the dining room table when I was 9. I don't care about my rankings, and have no interest in playing against randos I won't have a friendly chat with after the game. (Looking through the games you posted, it seems I was on the losing side of one and the winning side of another, so it's unclear if I'm one of the rookies getting farmed or not.)

It is passive-aggressive and entirely uncalled for on somebody's wall. JLiverwurst and somerandomplayer are in a Conquer Club groupchat together, they can hash out any issues. I complained in there about how I wasn't happy about the team balancing in my recent games. We're adults, we can handle it among ourselves.

I had recommended the site to my dad the other day, so he and I could start playing Risk again, but I'll retract that and look elsewhere on the internet.

This post seems completely on-topic to me, 2dimes.

I also want to chime in as a character witness for JLiverwurst.., I've played a fair number of games with him, sometimes as a teammate, sometimes not.
He is a good player, and a good team player, and that does require dedication ans skills regarding organization, planning, and communication.
I've never felt there was anything underhanded in the way games were set up.
Obviously joining random teams of inexperienced and disorganized players is not a likely recipe for success. I am completely amazed that the complainer in this dispute (aad0906) was not able to figure that out ahead of time.

Frankly, I'm not even sure how or why one would treat 'farming' as any sort of cheating or abuse. Everyone here is on their own trajectory of learning the ropes and improving as a player, both individually, and as a team player.
Improving and also knowing what kind of games you enjoy playing requires playing many different kind of games. Of ocurse, along the way you will lose many of them.
It is the inherent nature of competition.

I looked at these games, 7 out of 8 games in that list are from 2022 when we had this discussion already..

So lets re-open some cases from 2018 and 2009 as well? I stopped in 2022 joining his invites because of all the fuss but i must say, the fun in chat was never the same again. So my bad for not joining anymore; i should have said f*ck it, who cares?

And this was the new bunch of players (i joined in 2021) that had fun playing games together learning.. But that is not allowed for people who are old crocodiles with "rank is all" attitude. Then you are "farming" or "ranching" or whatever. I remember at least a few players left the site because of the 2022 JLiverwurst case.

Yes a lot of his friends play with and against him. That was already mentioned in the case in 2022... Ofcourse Joey was always on the better teamed side rank wise. I saw that too in the case in 2022. He makes the invites..so yes, i didn't see it like that but i stopped joining anyways. I don't wanna be called a rancher for accepting invites so i've put him on my foe list back then. Just to be sure i didn't accept invites without looking because i always did back then. Looking back, That was stupid but hey, shit happens.

I did that too, but then you wall people and pm them making sure they read chat and take the turn with good advice.. it's that simple. And good fun - plus : you get to know a lot of players fast that way

But do re-open his case, bring back 7 out of 8 games from that period -lol- and keep doing that untill all new players (those who joined after 2021 have left the site). Im on my way out aswell as soon my subscription runs out.. Too much negavtive vibes from characters that mind rank too much to be healty.

Maybe it's time to implement the optional ability to create real player games with no points or limited points exchange. Like everyone puts 1 or 5 points at risk* regardless of rank.

Then people that just want to casually play games here with their buddies, can play bigger games with others and don't have to be worried, that they will be accused of farming, by people that are frightened their rank will be put at risk*.

Also if a crummy player like myself or some cook has a buddy that's a high rank like a general or something, we can play with them and not have the high rank player risk* a massive point loss because the low rank player gets good dice and cards.

I would have posted this in suggestions but that's pointless.

I should have researched better before posting, apologies.

I just noticed there we recent games waiting were easy targets were invited.

And I have learned my lesson, when I get random invites I don't immediately accept anymore.
