j_dizaster and NYCC [ka]

Accused:

j_dizaster
NYCC

The accused are suspected of:

Conducting Secret Diplomacy

Game number(s):

19688585

Comments:
These 2 players are in 89! games together. I only noticed this after becoming suspicious of play that appeared to make no sense. I mentioned this in chat, and the 4th player also confirmed that their play seemed "strange", and that it seemed obvious that they weren't going to attack each other. I don't mind friends playing together in a match if they play fairly.

There's a larger group of players that j_dizaster commonly plays with and NYCC looks like a new addition.

round 1

2020-02-23 23:04:55 - NYCC assaulted East New York from Ozone Park and conquered it from j_dizaster
2020-02-23 23:05:14 - NYCC assaulted East Flatbush from Canarsie and conquered it from j_dizaster

2020-02-24 12:43:44 - j_dizaster assaulted Fordham from Bedford Park and conquered it from Brooklin
2020-02-24 12:43:46 - j_dizaster assaulted Riverdale from Bedford Park and conquered it from NYCC

quick look shows they attack one another with out solid proof it will be hard to prove your case . look through the 92 games or a vast majority and look to see if any other members are leaving game chat like in yours . the handful of games i went through have no game chat accusing the pair and i can see them hitting each other .

out come here will most likely be foe and move on

I started looking at some of their games last night but got distracted. in some of the 1v1 games they have banter to expect if they are friends. however, i looked at some of the larger free for all games and saw some dodgy shit.

19623178: 5 player game, and NYCC attacked j once in the entire game. Several turns after j had a massive lead. J won this game

19623110: 5 player game. Pretty much the exact same situation as mentioned above. Only started fighting when everyone else was dead.

19623099: 5 player game. same as above.

19564541: 6 player game. first nations americas. looking through the log they only attack each other once or twice to get their bonuses. NYCC started off slow and j let him get the bonus 8 plains besides his bonus and left him. this goes on for the rest of the game until NYCC gets huge and the cash in does too. even when NYCC is going to win j cashed a set of 100 and attacked the other player (likely the 3rd strongest at the time). however, j does not try do any damage to NYCC when it is pretty clear he will win.

19537292: another world 2.1 5 player game. Similar situation as the 6 player game. they only attack each other to get their bonuses at the start. then it seems they leave each other until way later. one kills the other when it is down to 3 players before winning the game himself. this game i'd put in the kinda something box. it is not near as bad as the other examples i have here.

I mainly had a look at the larger games where one or the other won the game.
I think these two are friends and that they hardly play a fair game if they can help it. That's my few cents worth.

Hey Wallz - thank you for bringing this to my attention.

First of all, we have been in 92 games together. Of these games, you are picking just games won (which would be massively higher if we were cheating). And Zeus is right, this is the first time anyone has ever complained. I am currently in 60 active games with another 25 pending to start. Several games are 1v1 and others are with just friends. How would this be a cheating strategy or a way to stack up stats?

We do know each other obviously, but what is wrong with playing with friends. If anything we have a tendency to screw each other over.

This all started when Eriden started to lose in Game: 19688585. If you take note of that game, J_dizaster and I are in completely different parts of the world from the start. My winning literally could not have been influenced by anything. Eriden even commented on my play style that game by saying "GG NYCC" as he was losing. Since then, him and BlueBird have been accusing us of cheating and trying to team up together. I've placed Eriden as a foe, but would like to continue playing with bluebird as I've noticed he is a good player.

If you would like to see us actually play together, I welcome anyone to a 2v2 team game. Again, a player's win ratio would not be in the low 30% if they were cheating..

Lastly, I play 99% of the time on mobile where I cannot even see what color each player is.

Unsure how to respond here. Not cheating, simple as that. Do the logs accurately reflect the decision making process of how many troops are where? Individual bias towards red or green? I didn't realize you could report anyone for cheating that you want, seems a little unfair and unfounded. I've had players come after me in individual games outside of losing. I've had players do lots of things i don' like doesn't mean they're cheating. Being a sore loser should not initiate a witch-hunt.

It's nice how there is an "Accused:" section and nothing about the "Accuser". I assume everyone I've seen in multiple games together have some level of a relationship. So what? If someone doesn't attack you, generally you don't attack them back regardless of how well you know them unless its strategically advantageous or necessary. Seems weird to be grilled for using the platform that I've loved for years and playing risk.

Knowing you guys are friends is useful. Glad you both put some input into this forum.

I did not think much of the 80 odd games you 2 have played together. I have some friends who i have played many a game with. In my situation i very seldom play against them in free for all games. I do this so there is no reason people would think I am playing unfairly.
The problem in your situation is you guys play often with other people who do not know you are friends. Some potential future suggestions is to mention it straight away in game chat that you know them and you will play normally, and / or have it written on your wall. This situation of being reported to have cheated can come from playing games with others and them losing.
another idea is to try team games together(not one on either side as i have seen you have done before). Sure team games are different, but the whole point of them is to work together to win. you can play up to 6 doubles teams in games so you have options.

Do either of you have anything to add to the games i mentioned? where the game logs suggest strong bias in who you did not attack (being each other until everyone else is dead).

For this specific game I doubt there will be consequences. As zeus has had a decent look and has not seen anything crazy. I think both the accuser and accused have foed each other which will prevent clashing again.

It would be tough to figure out my mindset while playing those games. Again if you are just looking at the winning games you can always find some sort of pattern if you try. Most of the time I have large armies built up to threaten neighbors into not attacking. Also, you mentioned 5 or so games out of nearly 100, if we were working together, I can bet that number would be closer to 30-50 wins together.

Anyway, I really like your suggestion of letting ppl know that we are friends from the get go. Let everyone we play against see that we are not working together like eridein accused..

It's hard to be in numerous games with the same people without getting reported one of these days. If you are friends or family, does that mean you should attack each other more often or else you will be seen as cheating? Not understanding one's gameplay and having a history with each other does not automatically mean there is some cheating going on between the players - but yes, when someone doesn't understand your gameplay - you can be reported for cheating, it's that easy.

For secret diplomacy, we got to also consider how they are positioned in the map, if all borders are guarded or left unguarded, heated game chats between other players can also be influential to one's gameplay, truces or broken truces, etc. Everyone can have his own reason for his own gameplay. If they had over 92 games played together so far and this is the first time they have been reported out of those games, then they could be playing fairly in most cases. Still, there is always the temptation to favor one another from time to time and the preference to have each other win the game would be unsurprising as how some of the games posted by WALLZ seem to insinuate.

For now, I will note this report in their records for future reference.
