this whole argument exists under the assumption that the freemiums would actually buy a subscription. If they're too cheap for 25 bucks a year and resort to sharing accounts then there's a good chance they would not have bought them in the first place.

Yeah, points and bragging rights are great, but it falls a long way short of cold hard cash.

I could sell "shares" on my pemium account on ebay. there is no limit to how many shares I could sell under the current system.

OK seriously, I would not do this and devalue this site, but just trying to show what can easily be done. This needs to be seriously looked at.

You posted this in the wrong place. This is more of a cheating/abuse topic than a GD, I've moved it for you.

Now, the problem is from our side and our side only seeing as the only people it really affects (other than the seeming schizophrenia of the account being shared) is Lack and his accountant.

Now, we know these accounts exist. For some it is a matter of not being able to afford extra accounts, some are families who don't want kids having their own account for supervising reasons, etc etc. For most people this would be more trouble than it is worth because while, yes, you get all the games, you lose the score, feedback, PM and posting features we have on this site - you can't use them because they aren't "you" and so they are meaningless.

If you want to let 100 people into your account to ruin your reputation, score and posts, feel free. I'd enjoy watching the fallout

You are allowed one and only one account. If you share your account with someone you better be sure they don't want, and don't have, their own account because you will lose yours if they try to make their own. We wont risk you using them as multis and trying to weasel out with the "but he's my room mate" excuse

as for what you're saying, i think you're looking at it from the wrong angle. as i said in other posts. in theory all the people here could share just 8 accounts. that's 200$ for lack each year. he'll go bankrupt

i think the best thing to do is to enforce such a rule and prevent all of this nonsense.
not to mention that in the current form the rules allow for public selling of accounts. i'm actually curious i haven't seen it happen yet on ebay.

Well here's the problem with that scheme Dim. You'd have to find someone who had never played CC ever to take over your account. Any current users couldn't switch over to your account w/o being busted as a multi. Good luck trying to sell that.
