I find a lot of times that the pictures that I upload are quite blurr. Should I use bmp or jpg or any thing?

Png Files seem to be the most popular format although i believe Jpeg also work on the site
I am not sure about Gifs but I find they are nearly always of lesser quality any way
bmp is not as far as I know supported

It's less about the file type, and more about the file size (which impacts on download times and bandwidth etc)

Bitmaps are supported, but tend to be large. (I'd include tiffs as bitmaps)

Jpegs are smaller than bitmaps - the trick is to adjust the compression ratio to get a balance between aesthetics and file size. I tend to use jpegs but stick with a lowish compression, which reduces the blurriness.

Pngs are supposed to be lossless, which means that there shouldn't be any blurring. However, they may well be bigger than a jpeg with no necessary visible benefit - although pngs will let you have a transparent background.

Gifs will produce smaller files, but don't have encoding for 256 million colours, which will generally have a significant impact on the visual impact of an image. Gif images can be animated; but the longer the animation, the larger the file size.
