is map making just for those with experience programming.
I saw XML mentioned I;m guessing that stands for an eXtended versionj of HTML.
Is there Map making tool or is it all code?
Is it feasible for someone with next to zero knowledge of HTML but a rounded experience of games, and who could come up one on paper to create a new map?
This post might be in wrong place. appologies if it is but not sure where it should be.

welcome to the foundry, ben!
u need no prior knowledge of programming. the xml file for a map is simply a way to hold the data in a form that the game engine can interpret.
skim through the following thread for an idea of the mapmaking process. although the order of things has changed a bit, many of the same principles still apply.

Map making is not just for experienced programmers.
But
It is for experienced graphic designers.
For even if you can come up with a great tactical map
it will never get passed the design phase unless your a good graphic artist.
Though they are nice enough to allow you to keep redrawing the artwork for a few years until you slowly master being an artist yourself.

If you've got a good idea, you might be able to find someone willing to do the graphics and/or the XML for you.
I'm no artist, but I can do XML for you if you'd like.

kind of weird. When I first started CC, I knew nothing about programming and had no concept of what an XML file was. Now, I'm a software engineer and XML files are like the Jacksonville Jaguars of computer files
