gameplay ideas

So it seems to me that there are a bunch of gameplay ideas floating about without a particular map attached to them. There are also a number of maps that would be vastly improved with better or unique gameplay. Therefore, I suggest that the Melting Pot have a sub-forum strictly for gameplay ideas. Mapmakers would be free to incorporate any or all of an idea posted on this sub-forum into their maps. I think this would encourage people to think outside the box and would lead to more maps with unique and fun gameplay.

As an example, here is an idea I have been thinking about (but please don't judge the merit of a sub-forum on the quality of this idea ;) ): Consider an area in two different points in time, where a regional map would look very different. One could make a map of one era with a certain set of bonus regions, or one could make a map of the other era with an entirely different set of bonus regions (but the same territory layout). Anyways, why not superimpose the bonus regions on top of each other? So, if letters represented territories, bonus regions could be ABCD, EFGH, etc., and ABEF, CGIQ, etc. (if that makes sense). Someone with some artistic talent could make this a very nice map, IMHO.

Interesting point that I would like to address but simply don't have the time.

Furthermore, this be in the wrong forum. It belongs in the Foundry Discussions.

I thought about that, but in the past gameplay ideas have been included in the melting pot. So since I included a gameplay idea along with the other suggestion, I put it here O:) ... Feel free to move it though if needed.

Carl, I think your forum idea has some merit, since it could split up things into three categories that already sort of exist all bunched together in the Melting Pot:
1) Maps (gameplay) in need of a strong concept
2) Concepts in need of a map
3) Maps with a strong concept

The first two could be siphoned off into subforums, so that once they're more complete they could go to the third. However, this does have disadvantage of adding another step to the Foundry process, but only for maps/concepts that are incomplete. The advantage would be that it would make things a bit less cluttered (I notice searches are used a lot by posters) and it might ease some of the grousing I see occasionally at someone who says, "Hey, this sounds like a good idea.." and then immediately gets descended upon by 2 or 3 regulars asking for map blueprints (using hyperbole, folks).

As for your gameplay idea, I don't think I quite follow it. Is there an easier way to explain it?
