No matter how many people are in the game (as long as it's more than two) you need to establish a source of income. Either by capturing a continent or by getting as many armies on the ground as possible. Either way you want to make it so you're getting as many armies per turn as possible.

What the hell is wrong with these cheating bastards and their multiple accounts? What's the point? There's no challenge when you've got two accounts going in the same game. I could name a few that don't even try to cover it up...it's just blatant and it ruins the game. For what?
